South Dakota LB Focus: 2027s To Watch This Summer

We focus our attention on what is a group of linebackers that 1) need more attention 2) have rising stock 3) show off under the radar traits. From Rapid City to Elk Point, we have the Mount Rushmore State covered from nearly all corners with this gorup of LBs.    College coaches won't have to wait around seeing the high motor that Elk Point-Jefferson's [player_tooltip player_id='1153742' first='Caleb' last='Heuertz'] has at his disposal as there's more reasons why this young man is up to four offers in counting from the NAIA level. Caleb is a persistent downhill linebaccker that it's evident that this young man has great vision at the point of attack., Another intriguing skillset that Caleb has is how agile he has become as even when he's flying into high traffic areas his ability to turn and twist and quickly finds the ball carrier. He surely looks like a team leader defensively for the Huskies, as the reps show him directing traffic from time to time. I feel camp season might open up more next-level opportunities for Caleb for sure.     A 2027 linebacker that has gotten solid interest but surprisely doesn't have his first offer yet is our first West River linebacker in our LB focus group, Rapid City Christian's [player_tooltip player_id='1293176' first='Reed' last='Lindberg']. Kick his current ranking aside, as he will be going up by next update as Reed is one of the harder hitters in South Dakota and always comes to the ball with a lot of tenacity. He's added some size and frame now at 6'1 200 pounds which are solid measurables for the next-level at linebacker, as Reed not only makes his tackles early in the inside box, but can get to the edges and show the downhill contact ability he can create. The 6'0 205 pounder is tough as nails getting to the point of attack and what intrigues me most is Jevyn's ability to rumble thru blockers that might have more size than him, but shows off the power in his hands to get down to the ball quickly. Jevyn has well-versed vision in the inside box and I would love to see at camps this summer on what he can do around the edges of trhe field as I feel this young man has good upside that's still getting untapped.     Another one that is surely due for his first offer out of this group, is Aberdeen Roncalli's [player_tooltip player_id='1293173' first='Brooks' last='Jett']. He's got his fair share of basketball interest as well, but when you turn on the tape and look at the size and frame this young man has you'll see why this kid can play on Saturdays. Brooks boosts soft hands off his blocks and obivously has the wingspan to track down ball carriers that are probably out of reach for other linebackers. The 6'4 195 pounder has an long and sudden first step as a linebacker that create great physicality on his tackles on the inside box and the edges. Don't want to sleep on this one college coaches.     Jace already has been a stockriser this spring that will move surely into our top 10 linebackers in this 2027 class out of a Dell Rapids Quarriers program that is going to have a handful of Saturday targets out of that class. The 6'1 200 pounder shows quickly that he is certainly not a linebacker you want to give a free pass into your backfield as he will make you pay for it. In my eyes, Jace is a well-rounded linebacker that shows promising upside in pass coverage and without a doubt is a run-stopper college coaches need to check out at camps this summer.
