The linebacker position at the spring Prep Redzone WI Exposure Showcase was another position group where I felt every athlete in attendance would eventually be on a college football roster. Each Class from 2027-2029 was represented by at least one standout athlete, and that includes the 2028 Class being led by LB MVP [player_tooltip player_id='1140816' first='Elias' last='Reed']. The Manitowoc Lincoln LB put together another great showcase performance with his three down abilities. Dive into his full day HERE in our MVP recap. For the rest of the position coverage continue reading!

All day long Connor was right there pushing for MVP honors of his own. The 6'2" 196 lbs 2027 LB has attended multiple showcases and left no doubt that he has been dedicated to getting better and using his offseason wisely. Connor started his day with a great display of his athletic tools. He hit a 9'3" broad jump and did really well in the 40 with a 4.77 and 4.76 laser time. Those numbers alone help verify his ability to play three downs.

On the field in drills and 1 on 1 battles Connor was much improved from our last Showcase. He started with a great showing in the 1v1s vs RBs in the run game. Boyles was quick to close downhill and leave the RB little time to try and make a move. Then he finished his day with a lot of solid reps in coverage. That is where I saw his largest improvement. Connor trusted his speed and also demonstrated that he could run with RBs through route breaks better than he has in the past and also put up a good fight at the catch point to break up passes. The Menomonee Falls 2027 is one of the best LBs remaining in the Class. Don't miss out.

Logan really impressed me on Sunday with his performance. The 5'11" 180 lbs 2027 LB fits more into that mold of a nickel or hybrid LB/S, and we saw him show that he has the tools to do that at the next level. Logan stood out from the crowd with his speed during live 1 on 1s. He was so quick to accelerate from a standstill. Especially in 1v1 run drills. He matched up well with the RBs when it came to playing in space and containing them before they could make a move to elude him. The 2027 LB also did well in coverage. Again his speed along with his ability to change direction were huge in keeping him close to RBs throughout routes and giving him shots to be able to break up passes to win reps. The hybrid defender should be on the radar of the D3 landscape across WI.

I wrote about Wyatt coming into the event as someone that I wanted to see live. A big reason why was I wanted to see how the physical LB handled the more athletic side of the position It is awesome to report that the 2028 delivered a great showing that verified that he is building the tools to be able to play at the next level. The 5'11" 193 lbs athlete started his day with a 4.90 laser verified 40, 8'10" and 8'11" broad jumps, 7.31 L-drill, and a 4.47 shuttle. Also very noteworthy is that he has 10" hands and a 6'5" wingspan. So the 2028 may not be done growing yet.

We needed to see those tools translate to the field, though. Wyatt showed it to us. He was right at home taking on RBs in run game battles where he let that aggressive mentality lead to plenty of wins. Wyatt could flex his closing burst in those drills. I loved seeing that he could run downfield with RBs and that length he has on his frame came up clutch on a few plays. As Wyatt continues to get more comfortable playing in space he is only going to become more impressive of a prospect. Get him on your radars going forward.

Lukas is well on his way towards developing into a premier LB talent in this state. That is a high standard because WI is well known for the LBs they have produced over the years. The 6'1" 220 lbs freshman is built like a senior already with his strong, muscular frame. A frame that looks built for defending against the run game. That is where he thrives. Alvin is smooth playing laterally and getting downhill against the run game. He is just starting to develop his athleticism, but we did see that Lukas could meet RBs near the line in the 1v1 run game battles. As the freshman continues to build his athleticism to go along with that outstanding frame and strength he will only climb the rankings. The raw talent and potential are very high with this 2029. Get him on your radars sooner rather than later.

Maximus was another impressive 2029 LB at the spring Showcase. The Greendale product actually did some rotating between RB and LB throughout the day. My first major takeaway was that the 2029 LB/RB already looks the part with his 6'3" 205 lbs frame. A frame that is well built, but clearly has room to continue to fill out over the coming years. During the combine Ward put up a 4.8 laser timed 40, 8'10.5" broad, 7.62 L-Drill, and a 4.78 shuttle. Every one of those numbers were drastically improved from the winter showcase back on November 30th. Clearly the 2029 has been putting in the work this offseason.

On the field I was able to watch Maximus closely in the run game drills where he again was rotating between both RB and LB. The big man is a natural at accelerating downhill to close very quickly. That same burst could be seen when he carried the ball too. He is at his best when he can lean on that one cut or downhill play style. I'm excited to see if he plays both ways this fall for Greendale. Don't overlook the talented 2029.
