Our Prep Redzone North Carolina exposure camp was on Friday night at Johnson C. Smith, and 75 athletes came out to compete in front of college coaches and recruiters. We'll have plenty of content throughout the week, but we want to start with a quick hitter. Here's our All-Camp team. We'll start with the defense.

Editor's Note: We're using our discretion with how many players we put at each position, but we're trying to stay close to the numbers expected in a typical defensive alignment.

Defensive Line

Analysis: This was a strong defensive line group, and I was pleasantly surprised with how they took it to a strong offensive line position. There were plenty of unproven guys here, and two of these guys will join my rankings in North Carolina. A shoutout to Trenches Elite in Raleigh, who personally recommended Corbett and Gardner, two guys who didn't play much last season, but look poised for breakout seasons in 2026.

Hunt's been on our radar for a while, but he's added about 35 pounds, while still maintaining his twitch off the edge. There's a possibility he continues to add weight and moves inside, or stay outside where his bend and power work.

King was another pleasant surprise. He's not yet ranked by our South Carolina site, but that will change soon. Top to bottom, this was the most surprisingly talented position group.

Linebackers

[player_tooltip player_id='1692741' first='Jackson' last='Laws'] | Cannon School

[player_tooltip player_id='2166397' first='Tyler' last='Hodges'] | Willow Spring

[player_tooltip player_id='2166011' first='Nick' last='Massey'] | ALA-Johnston

Analysis: I had questions about whether Laws and Hodges had the movement skills to play linebacker at the next level, and came away with a resonding, "Yes" to both. Laws plays on the edge and I planned to ask him to run some drills and one-on-ones there. However, after seeing how he moved in linebacker drills, I came away convinced he can play off the ball at a high level in the future. He was smooth.

Hodges does play linebacker for Willow Spring, but he's a bigger guy who blitzes more than he's in coverage. I was shocked by how well he played in coverage last night. He's a natural mover with great anticipation.

Massey wasn't really on our radar, but the rising sophomore moved well in drills and showed a natural feel for run fits.

An extra shoutout to East Forsyth's [player_tooltip player_id='2126975' first='Josiah' last='Werts'] here, who also looked great. Every linebacker in attendance looked good.

Defensive Backs

[player_tooltip player_id='683130' first='Ra'Sean' last='Williams'] | Rolesville

[player_tooltip player_id='2158963' first='Noah' last='Taylor'] | Wake Prep

[player_tooltip player_id='2100553' first='Brandon' last='Lindsey'] | Eastern Alamance

[player_tooltip player_id='1691097' first='Zion' last='McDonald'] | Cleveland

[player_tooltip player_id='1163065' first='Exavier' last='Allen'] | Southeast Raleigh

Analysis: The top three were among the best players at camp, regardless of position. Williams is unphased by the fact that he's shorter than most receivers. He's physical, technically-sound, and plays with an edge. We'll have plenty more on him later this week, but needless to say, I was impressed.

Taylor hit every physical threshold needed to put himself in the Division I range as a defensive back. He ran a 4.61 at 6'2," had the second-best broad jump of the camp, and locked down receivers in coverage, showing that he can play corner, if needed.

Lindsey was one of the most impressive guys in coverage all night, and was one of the first up for every drill.

McDonald and Allen actually measured bigger than I'd expected, and both have wing spans well over six feet. Both tested well and looked good in coverage.

We'll have plenty more to come from our Prep Redzone Exposure Camp this week, so follow along. We're updating rankings soon, so keep it locked in with Prep Redzone.
