Nebraska 2028s Deserving D1 Looks This Offseason

We have seen attention to the 2028 class ramp up in recent weeks, so I wanted to highlight some players you should start watching soon.   <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" />    <a href="https://x.com/Elibetz28" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">(@Elibetz28)</a>   If I could make a list of players whom I would give their first D1 offer to today, Elkhorn's [player_tooltip player_id='1573578' first='Eli' last='Betz'] would definitely be near the top of that list. Eli quickly became a seasoned veteran on the Antlers' offensive line, as he's set to be a three-year starter going into his junior season with experience at left and right tackle. Eli is a player who passes the eye test immediately at a towering 6'7" and 280 pounds, with room to continue adding bulk, and has solid length to his frame. On film, I was impressed by how mobile and quick he is on his feet for his size, showing he can climb to the second level to clear out LBs and hit like a runaway train on pulling plays. Betz flashes a powerful punch at the point of attack, with great pop in his heavy hands and the ability to work them inside to gain leverage. On top of solid athleticism, Eli also displays the power to drive defenders off the ball and a mean streak to finish blocks in the dirt. Schools have started to take notice, now it's just a waiting game for that first offer to come in!      <a href="https://x.com/OwenPrice5540" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">(@OwenPrice5540)</a>   GICC's [player_tooltip player_id='1652202' first='Owen' last='Price'] is another player who would be near the top of my "28 offer now" list. Owen is a super productive linebacker on the C1 runner-up Crudsaders squad who accounted for 96 tackles, 24 TFLs, six sacks, three forced fumbles, and an interception. Owen passes the eye test right away with a projectable 6'3" and 210-pound frame mixed with next-level athleticism, reporting an 11.18 100m dash, 10'6" broad jump, and 40.6" vertical jump. This isn't just a "workout warrior" either, as you can see an elite, non-stop motor that puts Owen near the ball on almost every play. He played with both his hand in the dirt and in a stand-up OLB role and showed he can excel in either spot, but will likely project best as an LB who can crowd the LOS, stop the run, and is versatile enough to drop into coverage. Owen is quick to get off the ball and win at the point of contact, with a fast first step and a powerful jab that can knock blockers off their spot. Price showed he can be violent with his hands in order to disengage from blocks and has the burst to close on the ball once he's broken into the backfield. Owen's ability to set the edge was also huge for the Crusaders' ability to defend the run. Secure tackler who can bring the boom while using proper technique. Get this guy on campus ASAP!      <a href="https://x.com/chase_gable13" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">(@chase_gable13)</a>   The Papio South Titans have the horses to make another run in Class A, including junior safety [player_tooltip player_id='1591349' first='Chase' last='Gable'], who looks primed to break out. Chase had a productive sophomore campaign in which he tallied 68 tackles and five TFLs for the Titans. Chase is a taller DB at 6'3" and 170 pounds with solid length to his frame. Gable stands out with his versatility that allows him to play as a "centerfield" safety, fill the box, or play up near the LOS. He also plays with a great range, which helps him defend deep passes or quickly drive downhill when he keys in on a run. Gable's physicality stood out as he was willing to challenge receivers at the catch point to defend the pass (4 PBUs) or secure a stop when he meets ball carriers 1v1. Chase plays with good instincts in coverage, showing he can quickly pick up on offensive schemes and does a great job tracking the QB's eyes. Fluid through transition with loose hips that help him change direction on the fly. High-ceiling player who is only starting to scratch the surface.      <a href="https://x.com/MaxHull44" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">(@MaxHull44)</a>   With teams constantly looking to get bigger and meaner in the trenches, few players bring that kind of presence like Blue Hill's [player_tooltip player_id='2063005' first='Max' last='Hull']. Max is a mauler with excellent size at 6'5" and 300 pounds and mobility to succeed at the next level. I had the opportunity to watch Max at our showcase last winter, where he really impressed with his pass protection reps, and that shows on his tape as well. He showed the strength in his base to anchor down effectively and can use his hands to tie up pass rushers at the LOS. For being 6'5", Max is still able to keep his pad level consistent and in a position to maintain leverage over his opponent. As a run blocker, Max enjoys contact, exploding through his opponent and doing a great job of following through to finish with a mean pancake block. Max's defensive tape was also impressive as he did a great job being violent with his hands to rip away from blockers and can pursue the ball very well. Coming from the 8-man ranks, there will still be some green areas to Max's game, but he certainly has all the tools to turn heads!      <a href="https://x.com/EvvannDaniels" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">(@EvvannDaniels)</a>   Columbus sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1683777' first='Evvann' last='Daniels'] is a speedy RB who I believe is a big camp performance away from exploding on the recruiting scene. Evvann flew onto my radar as a freshman after a dominant track season and followed that up with 499 rushing yards and five touchdowns on 57 carries in the fall. Obviously, the biggest strength of Evvann's game is the legit track speed that lets him break away from defenders and makes him a threat to hit a home run on any given play. He does an excellent job being patient behind his blockers and can see the play unfold very well, allowing him to identify where holes will be. Daniels' balance and strength in his base were also very impressive, as he kept his footing while battling multiple tackle attempts. He can also juke, spin, and power his way through/away from tackles, displaying his shiftiness in the open field. Plenty of time to continue adding some extra bulk to his frame in the upcoming seasons.
