I spent Saturday night at the Spence Eccles Sports Complex in Ogden for the Prep Redzone Showcase, watching some of the area's top young quarterbacks sling it. It is always great to see dozens of rising signal-callers spending their weekend putting in the work to get better. Throughout the evening, I was tracking clean footwork, quick decision-making, and pure arm talent, especially when evaluating ball placement during live 1-on-1s. Out of a pretty packed group, a few guys flashed some serious high-level potential. After a long day of taking notes on releases and downfield zip, here's a quick rundown of the standout QBs who caught my eye and definitely belong on college radars.

Munk plays for Green Canyon High School, he brings an intriguing blend of size and athleticism to the position at 6'2" and 190 pounds. He consistently flashes one of the quickest releases I have seen, snapping the ball out with no wasted movement and maintaining those great mechanics from individual drills straight through to routes on air and live 1-on-1s. The ball jumps out of his hand with enough zip to easily drive throws to the far boundary. Munk also showed off active feet in the pocket, proving he can remain highly accurate even when forced to throw on the move. Flipping on the game film only backs up the camp evaluation, as he shows great pocket presence and consistently makes smart decisions with the football. Stepping up in crucial moments as a young player has clearly accelerated his on-field maturity and poise. A true playmaker with both his arm and his legs, it is easy to see how this dual-threat talent helped carry Green Canyon all the way to a 4A State Title game. If he keeps developing on this current trajectory, he is going to be a major problem for opposing defenses this season. I believe he was the best QB at this event.

Corner Canyon High School Prospect is a 6'1", 190-pound true pocket passer who flashes some serious high-level potential. Watching him go to work, you immediately notice his ability to move fluidly within the pocket while keeping his eyes glued downfield, even when the rush gets home late. He possesses a solid arm with plenty of juice to push the football vertically and stretch the defense. However, flipping on the game film reveals that his absolute best attribute is his sheer knowledge of the game. Pehrson does an exceptional job of identifying coverages both pre-snap and post-snap, processing information quickly to get the ball out on time. He pairs that high football IQ with clean footwork and impressive accuracy when forced to throw on the move. As a prime candidate to fill the current quarterback vacancy at Corner Canyon, he has a massive opportunity in front of him. With head coach Eric Kjar recently moving on to the college ranks at Weber State, Pehrson will need to prove to the brand-new coaching staff that he is the right guy to step up and earn that highly coveted starting spot for the Chargers.

Out of Clearfield High School is a 6-foot, 190-pound signal-caller who brings a ton of valuable experience to the position. Going into his junior year, he will be returning for his third season as the unquestioned starter for the Falcons, and all those early varsity reps should translate into a massive jump in production this fall. Watching him move, Barlow flashes some good overall athleticism and does a really nice job of remaining accurate when the pocket breaks down and he is forced to throw on the run. While he might have an average arm in terms of raw downfield power, he completely makes up for it by processing the field quickly and consistently getting the ball out on time. He pairs that reliable timing with fundamentally sound footwork, ensuring he rarely puts his body in a bad mechanical position to deliver a pass. With two full years of Friday night lights already under his belt, Barlow is a highly seasoned young prospect to keep a close eye on this upcoming season.

Quarterback at Skyridge High School is a 5'10", 165-pound athletic quarterback who proves to be an absolute handful for defenses when a play breaks down. Watching him operate, his best trait is easily his instinct to avoid the rush, effortlessly escaping the pocket to extend plays when the pressure gets home. Once he breaks contain, he is incredibly dynamic, fully capable of gashing a defense with his legs or making them pay with his arm on the run. He pairs that elite, dual-threat mobility with solid foundational footwork and decent arm strength to get the ball exactly where it needs to go. Going into his junior season, Tripp should be right in the thick of the mix to earn the starting quarterback position for the Falcons. If defenses cannot figure out a way to keep him contained in the pocket this fall, he is going to create constant headaches and generate a ton of explosive plays on the move.

Prospect out of Corner Canyon High School is a 5'11", 170-pound quarterback who is only going to become more impressive as he continues to physically mature and develop. Watching him spin it, his arm strength, and the sheer zip he puts on the football are awesome to see in person. Mason pairs that natural arm talent with really good feet, consistently keeping a strong, solid base underneath him at all times in the pocket. He is absolutely a kid who could turn heads in the near future, which he proved by throwing some highly accurate balls during both the routes on air and live 1-on-1 sessions. With his current skill set, he should undoubtedly be right in the mix when it comes to the quarterback battle at Corner Canyon. Either way, whenever the time comes for him to finally get his chance to take the reins and lead an offense, I fully believe he has the tools to excel.

Out of Box Elder High School, is a 5'9", 165-pound rising talent who is already making great strides toward a very bright future at Box Elder High School. Watching him operate, the first thing that jumps out is his high football IQ for his age; he does an excellent job of reading coverages and clearly sponges up everything there is to learn about the game. He has a great natural arm, but it is his accuracy that truly sets him apart from other quarterbacks. Whether he is kept clean in the pocket or forced to throw on the move, he consistently delivers a highly accurate ball with some really good zip behind it. Davis pairs that arm talent with disciplined footwork, doing a great job of always keeping his body in the proper position to throw. Heading into his freshman year, he is absolutely a kid that everyone in the area needs to keep a close eye on. If he keeps developing on this track, we could see him break all sorts of passing records at Box Elder once he gets his chance to lead the offense.
