With other sports peaking, daily training at the butt-crack of dawn, wrapping up the semester testing in school and road trips to camps and combines seemingly every weekend, it is a super-busy time of year as ballers from across the state begin the homestretch to the 2026 season.

To be elite in this day and age is a serious commitment.

You either go strong, or don't go at all...

In this report we will take a quick look at five talented playmakers who are locked in on bringing the fireworks this fall.

So without further adieu, let's check out what these guys have been up to:

[player_tooltip player_id='991686' first='Blue' last='Zambo'], 5'11”, 170, ATH/DB, Mill Valley, ‘28, up first is an up-and-coming defensive back who can excel at any of the secondary positions and has been particularly effective as an in-your-face cornerback who can pound receivers in the chest plate and then flip hips and turn and run with the best of them. This season he will shift gears and play more free safety where he can use his finely-tuned instincts, read and react skills and finishing speed to play sideline-to-sideline and essentially shut down the opposition's passing attack. He has been playing lights out 7v7 with Strongside and this spring is running the sprints on the track team. He has been training hard in the weight room, has been doing speed work since late last year and is already realizing the dividends, recently blazing a 4.2 in the 5x10x5. This guy is locked in and ready for an all-state kind of season this fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='635158' first='Reed' last='Mcdiffett'], 6'1, 175, WR, Wamego, '27, up next and first up for the seniors-to-be is an exciting wideout for the Indians who is coming off a strong junior year when he caught 54 passes for 620 yards, averaged 12 yards a pop, scored six TDs and is laser-focused on doubling those numbers this fall. He will team up again this year with one of the state's best in QB [player_tooltip player_id='1113129' first='Logan' last='Fulton'] to form one of the most electric tandems in the state this year. A versatile receiver with sticky hands, he plays a high-IQ game running precision routes and sliding into soft spots in zone. He is also adept at creating quick separation in man and makes life difficult for pressing corners. Interest is starting to build as he is already generating a lot of next-level attention. He is continuing to play 7v7 this summer as well as hitting camps to fine-tune his craft. This guy is going to have a huge year in '26.

[player_tooltip player_id='1894717' first='Garrett' last='Leblanc'], 6'2, 185, DB/WR, Emporia, '27, next for the up-coming seniors is a versatile athlete who excels in all three phases of the game but has really started turning heads as an athletic free safety who plays smothering coverage but is also quick to collapse on the run and make hard-hitting tackles in space. Last year he showed his next-level versatility and athleticism as a starter at free safety, rotated in on offense as a wide receiver who can also line up in the slot or as a wing, returned kicks as needed and played on most of the special teams. With his size, length and athleticism he quickly reads the quarterback's intent and using his 4.5 forty speed is able to blanket receivers with top-end pursuit speed. He has been training hard in the off-season doing speed work and lifting weights, and will be fully prepared to show off a next-level game this fall.

Ben Collins, 6'3, 215, TE/DE, Emporia, '27, up next is another Emporia baller who is coming off a good junior season as a two-way playmaker at TE and coming off the edge on defense. As a tight end he is versatile enough to line up tight or slide out wide as needed. With ideal size, athleticism and length he has an outstanding catch radius that he uses to climb the ladder and make the apex-level grabs. He is also a ball-buster coming off the edge and causing chaos in the backfield. This summer is shaping up to be a busy one as he will be hitting camps at KU and K-State as well as team camps/7v7's at Emporia State, Emporia HS, Shawnee Mission NW, and Andover Central. Right now he is in track doing the hurdles and is on the 4x1 relay team. His speedwork is paying off as he recently clocked a sizzling 1.00 10 yard fly and 4.7 40. This guy has been flying under the radar somewhat but is primed and ready for a breakout year on both sides of the ball.

Vence Van Der Vyver, 6'3, 175, TE/WR/DE, Pratt, '29, and last but certainly not least, we have an athletic sophomore-to-be who is a standout in three sports. Last fall he got acclimated to the varsity game as a two-way player who can line up as a tight end or wide receiver on offense and is a rangy defensive end who plays downhill and aggressive coming off the edge. With his size, wing span and athletic tools he is already starting to draw next-level interest in multiple sports. His off-season has been jam-packed with other sports as he is a rising-star shooting guard/small forward with a laser-sharp outside shot who will continue to play hoops this summer with MK out of Wichita. He is also a promising baseball player who is a right-handed pitcher and plays shortstop. This guy has flown under the radar so far as he has only played one year of varsity but with his multi-sport, multi-tool game he is going to draw significant interest in the very near future.

In conclusion, check these guys out - you won't be disappointed! Also, if you know of any players not getting any/enough coverage that they deserve, please feel free to DM me via X so we can take care of that!

And, most importantly...

Keep Grindin'

With other sports peaking, daily training at the butt-crack of dawn, wrapping up the semester testing in school and road trips to camps and combines seemingly every weekend, it is a super-busy time of year as ballers from across the state begin the homestretch to the 2026 season.
