2028s Who Will Wow Coaches This Camp Season

The summer before your junior season is where we see a lot of athletes separate themselves from the crowd. At least those top tier, potential D1 caliber athletes. Camps here in WI are only a month away from starting, so it is crunch time for these kids as they prepare for the grind of the summer. You can bet I will be out and about trying to take in as much live action as I can this summer and providing the coverage right here on Prep Redzone WI. The preparation on my end has me looking through our rankings and team rosters as I try and predict who could really put themselves on the map this summer. This article is going to give some of my top choices. Since he was a freshman Lucas has been impressing me with his play in the varsity trenches. Padded camps are going to be a perfect launching pad for the talented 2028. Lucas moves different than a lot of OL his age. The tape is excellent, showing a 260 lbs athlete who can so naturally fire out of his stance, or get quick depth in pass pro as well as mirror the counter moves of speed rushers. Having the athleticism is just part of the game. Lucas further separates himself with how powerful he is and how easy it seems to be for him to quickly overpower his opponent. The tape shows a guy who can pancake DL with that initial punch, stand up bull rush attempts, and get underneath and rive off the line in the run game. The future home might be at OG, but the more film I see from Lucas the more confident I am that he will be able to play at a higher level of college competition. DJ played both sides of the ball this past fall and at 6'5" 260 lbs he has the size to commit to either side of the ball at the next level. I believe he is at his best at OL where he can utilize that elite length to instantly get hands on and control his man. DJ also possesses that special burst and quickness off the snap to be able to attack his man so he can always win that body positioning battle. DJ also has the flexibility to win the leverage battle despite towering over most of his opponents. At CB he already has tape showing him to be a very impactful and productive CB. A lot of the tape shows off his ability to read and react, flash his closing burst, and highlight his ball skills. The tape also shows a kid who seems to always be in the right place at the right time. This summer I want to see reps of him playing more pump and run to see how he handles those scenarios. A lot of his game revolves around how fast and quick he is with the football in his hands. We had him out at a Prep Redzone WI camp and the sophomore left with RB MVP. Bryson dominates on Friday nights and his strengths should be perfectly highlighted by a camp/combine setting this summer. Settings where he can get updated combine numbers and then show how he can attack LBs 1 on 1 on the ground and as a receiving threat. The '28 is coming off a great sophomore varsity season and that should roll into a solid summer for himself. The 5'11" 180 lbs 2028 has tape showing a kid that can flip the switch and hit that second gear in the open space. So he should have a strong 40 time. The '28 also will do well in 1 on 1 reps vs LBs in receiving battles out of the backfield. He is going to look the part at 6'4" 260 lbs and from there he will be able to separate himself with the short area quickness and lateral agility that you see throughout his sophomore tape. The big man also doesn't lack the power needed to impose his will in the trenches. If Parker can get out this summer and show off that well rounded game that can shut down DL consistently then he is going to put himself in a great position for the rest of his recruiting journey. Peyton is an imposing presence on the interior of the DL trenches. The highlights show a kid that is strong at the point of attack. One who can hold the line vs doubles and win with a bull rush or use his upper body strength to get the hands of the OL off him on his way into the backfield. Peyton is very dedicated to his growth in the weight room in the offseason, so while his strength already is one of his top traits we could see that be even more prevalent this summer. He plays QB for Kaukauna, but the dual threat QB has the athletic talents to potentially play other positions. That potential versatility would only increase his value. Ryan has a reported 4.64 40 and is now up to 6' 205 lbs. A great frame and speed combination. The tape from 2025 shows that Ryan does have that game breaking speed with the football. He is strong through contact too and did well to keep his balance breaking arm tackles and also avoiding defenders in the tight quarters of the pocket.
