I’m fired up for Lucas to get in front of college coaches and show where he is at in his development. Since he was a freshman Lucas has been impressing me with his play in the varsity trenches. Padded camps are going to be a perfect launching pad for the talented 2028. Lucas moves different than a lot of OL his age. The tape is excellent, showing a 260 lbs athlete who can so naturally fire out of his stance, or get quick depth in pass pro as well as mirror the counter moves of speed rushers. Having the athleticism is just part of the game. Lucas further separates himself with how powerful he is and how easy it seems to be for him to quickly overpower his opponent. The tape shows a guy who can pancake DL with that initial punch, stand up bull rush attempts, and get underneath and rive off the line in the run game. The future home might be at OG, but the more film I see from Lucas the more confident I am that he will be able to play at a higher level of college competition. A big summer is ahead of Lucas.

I love the tape that Luke Davis has published from last season. As a freshman Davis was the starting left tackle on varsity. While he may not have the prototypical length for the position he makes up for it with outstanding footwork, balance, agility, and overall reactive athleticism. The rising 2028 OL is so light on his feet, whether it be getting deep to cut off a speed rusher or having to react to counter moves, Luke is able to mirror pass rushers so well. On top of it that quickness and agility show up in the run game too as he is able to win the leverage and positioning battle against the DL. I’m pumped to see him back on the field this fall and watch him develop into an eventual 4 year starter on the OL by the time his senior year rolls around.
