Shutdown Saturday: Defensive Backs Land 2028 Rankings Spot

We added hundreds of prospects to our rankings in Ohio last month for the Class of 2028. In our next article and multi-part series, we break down four new additions and will continue to do so throughout the months of February and March. These four early risers have a chance to become high-impact players in the fall and beyond.    [player_tooltip player_id='1987204' first='Nolan' last='Miller'] is a starting safety for Upper Arlington High School. At 6-foot-2, 188 pounds, Miller has prototypical size for the position. Miller is a great downhill hitter who can come out of a backpedal and close on the ball. Strong open-field tackler with good bulk and a lean, muscular frame with room to grow. Miller could be a quick riser with a strong junior season. Finished last year with 82 tackles, four interceptions and four forced fumbles.     [player_tooltip player_id='2127821' first='Charles' last='Newton'] is a starting safety for Princeton High School. Newton has impressive size, arm length and speed, and is very good in coverage playing with great use-of-hands to time the ball and register pass breakups. He does a great job of playing center field. At 6-foot-2, 180 pounds, he has a prototypical frame as a rising junior and a 4.0 GPA, making him a high-academic prospect as well.     [player_tooltip player_id='2123250' first='Davell' last='Brock'] is an under-the-radar safety prospect with good closing speed and hard-hitting ability. Brock, who is just 5-foot-8, 145 pounds plays much bigger than his size would indicate. He is an instinctive, twitchy, downhill safety who takes great angles to the ball and wraps up on contact. Brock is very good in pursuit and has the potential to rise up the rankings with a strong junior season.     Toledo Central Catholic has an outstanding defense and it's easy to see why in [player_tooltip player_id='2112856' first='De'Quane' last='Roscoe'] - a 6-foot-0, 205-pound safety with elite closing speed and hard-hitting ability against the run. Roscoe has a very good motor and great closing speed from his perch at safety. Roscoe is also a running back who can run through contact, finish forward, and be explosive in space with the ball in his hands. The team also utilizes him as an inside receiver and he can be very shifty in space behind the line of scrimmage, making defenders miss. High-impact prospect with a high ceiling.
