We're still 6 months away from the 2026 season, but there's no better time to predict breakout stars during the offseason who have flashed in the past but haven't fully broken out yet. The transfer landscape has yet to be finalized, which may impact some of these predictions in the future. However, here is one player from each school, listed in alphabetical order, that we believe will have a breakout season.

[player_tooltip player_id='658279' first='Jay' last='Bordas'] has taken steady steps forward during his time at Wheeling Park, and the progress he showed in a productive junior campaign moved him up to the #2 quarterback spot in the 2027 rankings. He finished the year with 1,700 passing yards and 13 touchdowns, operating an offense that often leaned on its ground game. With standout running back [player_tooltip player_id='1137687' first='Brennan' last='Wack'] graduating, the offensive structure is likely to shift, putting Bordas in position to take on a larger share of the workload through the air. His patient approach has set the stage for a senior year in which he can fully showcase his command of the offense and put his arm talent on display. If the passing game expands as expected, Bordas has a strong chance to elevate both his production and his profile during his final season.

2027 ATH/QB [player_tooltip player_id='1624330' first='Breck' last='Allen'] was thrown into the starting quarterback role at Williamstown as a sophomore and responded with a season that showed just how much upside he brings to the program. In a rebuilding year for the Yellowjackets, Allen accounted for 1,400 passing yards and 13 touchdowns while adding another 500 yards and 7 scores on the ground, giving the offense a true dual-threat presence. His impact was not limited to offense, as he finished with 45 tackles and two interceptions on defense, reinforcing the idea that he is one of the more versatile athletes in the program. While his long-term projection could lean toward an ATH role, the experience of commanding the offense this early in his career is valuable development. With another offseason to grow physically and continue refining the details of his game, Allen can take a significant step forward and become one of the most dynamic all-around players in the region over the next two seasons.

2027 Winfield QB [player_tooltip player_id='1154688' first='Jared' last='Miller'] entered the spotlight this season and showed us why he generated early buzz as a young prospect. The 2027 quarterback stepped in as the varsity starter and provided a full look at his skill set. Miller threw for 1,300 yards and 16 touchdowns while also adding nearly 600 rushing yards and 10 scores, giving the Generals a true dual-threat presence in a run-oriented offense. His ability to extend plays with his legs while still delivering production through the air makes him a difficult player for defenses to account for. With a full season of varsity experience now behind him, Miller has the tools to elevate both his production and his standing among quarterbacks in the 2027 class with accolades to come.

[player_tooltip player_id='2149433' first='Adryon' last='Hartford'] quietly put together a productive junior season at Wirt County and could be in line for an even larger role as the Tigers reshape their offense this season. The 2027 running back finished as the team's leading rusher with nearly 900 yards and 8 touchdowns while sharing carries with a senior. At 5'9 190, he runs with a sturdy build that allows him to absorb contact and keep moving through traffic. With the team's quarterback graduating, there is a strong possibility the offense leans more heavily on the ground game this fall. That scenario could put Hartford at the center of the game plan and allow him to turn last season's steady production into a much bigger senior campaign.

2027 Woodrow Wilson ATH [player_tooltip player_id='897527' first='Javontae' last='Wynes'] finally gave us a chance to see a full season of film at Woodrow Wilson, and the junior showed why there has been buzz about his upside. The 2027 athlete stepped into a larger role at running back within the Flying Eagles' Wing T attack when the team needed it, while also contributing on the back end of the defense at defensive back. His long frame and athletic movement stand out, and that combination gives him flexibility as he continues to develop physically. At this stage, he fits best under the ATH label, with his eventual position likely to become clearer as his body matures over the next year. If his growth continues, Wynes has the athletic traits to evolve into a versatile playmaker and attract college attention as he heads into his senior season.

Wyoming East continues to work through a rebuilding stretch, but [player_tooltip player_id='1624429' first='Grayson' last='Ashley'] has already emerged as one of the young pieces the Warriors can build around moving forward. Since stepping onto the field as a freshman, the 2028 EDGE has shown the kind of presence and leadership you do not always see from a player that early in his career. Ashley carries himself with confidence and has a well-built frame that allows him to impact the game on the defensive front. His frame suggests he could eventually settle in as a true defensive end with his hand in the dirt. Still, he also has the potential to develop as a stand-up edge rusher depending on how his body and athleticism progress. If that development comes, Ashley has the tools to remain one of the more intriguing defensive prospects in the 2028 class.
