Last but not least, we move to the defensive trenches from the Line of Scrimmage Big Dogs Camp from last Saturday at Training Haus in Eagan. It will show when you look at the size of my DL vs. OL list, but the DL group at camp last Saturday was a darn good one. The live eval surely did the justice and there were plenty of new names that caught my attention, a DL MVP that rose the bar, and a Western WI EDGE rusher that you need to know!

An EDGE rusher in the 2028 class that I thought oozed with upside based on the live eval I got on Saturday, was Cannon Falls's [player_tooltip player_id='1916899' first='Harrison' last='Sjoquist']. Off the eye test alone, there certainly is plenty of wiggle room for Harrison to grow his frame in the weight room over the coming years. He's a prospect that I felt during the live eval that boosted the high motor I wanted to see coming the EDGE with his last reps looking better than his first reps he showed off. He's still a work in progress as far as his power getting off blocks but surely is a sound speed rusher that is agile when he gets the inside or outside angle.

Taylor was one of my favoriite new names from this 2028 class out of Eden Prairie in the defensive line group. He by far had the biggest motor in the underclassmen group amongst the DL group and I would even put him in my top-tier for all defensive line too. I loved watching his get off all day as boosted the twitch I look for when evaluating the first step of defensive linemen as Taylor was one of the fastest from the jump. I also was impressed with his gap intrgrity during run-stopping reps when he was double-teamed as Taylor seemed like a sophomore that was above his years from an IQ perspective and was one of the most coachable defensive linemen I saw. Surely a bright spot to watch in the coming years out of EP.

Jack might have been outside of his main position at Lakeville North, but I was impressed with how natural he looked as an EDGE rusher in the reps I got to watch in Eagan on Saturday at the LOS Big Dogs Camp. The 6'0 230 pound had not only a fluid get off for his size but also I was intrigued with how agile Jack was getting off blocks at the point of attack. Jack was also relatively balanced when it came to his pad-level despite being lightly out of position at Big Dogs Camp which is another skillset that popped out in the live eval. Good vision and gap intregrity was shown as well in the bulk of the reps I watched for the Lakeville North product.

One of the NW Metro names that caught my attention in the live eval from Saturday in the 2027 class was [player_tooltip player_id='2055976' first='Isaiah' last='Fleck'] of Blaine. The 6'4 330 pounder clearly could win 1v1 battles with his size, but I was actually impressed with the technique Isaiah showed off during his reps as of course, there is some upside to untap but the timing and hand fighting ability that Isaiah showed off on his reps showed that with some coaching that this is a young man that should be playing on Saturdays at nose tackle certainly.

The Grinder MVP of the Line of Scrimmage Big Dogs Camp was a name that got on my radar last year and man, did I love seeing how he's committed and developed in year two as [player_tooltip player_id='1633476' first='Brody' last='Soma'] of East Ridge certainly earned the grinder. Ignore what you see positionally on his profile, the translation Brody has made since last March with his athletic profile is something you take a before and after picture for. Working viciously with LOS, Brody showed off violent hands on every rep that blasted thru the point of attack and showed off the agility he now has at his disposal getting off blocks. He's got a monster motor now and surely has grown as a pass-rusher with the plethora of moves he showed off in Saturday's sessions. Talk about a 2027 that has risen the heck out of his stock from a year ago.

The Defensive Line MVP is a 2028 prospect I personally have been familar with for a while from last summer's camp season as [player_tooltip player_id='1702059' first='Jaxson' last='Fury'] of Winnipeg took the nod. The Rabun-Gap Nacoocchee (GA) product, has gotten much more agile with his pass-rush moves than what I saw last summer and Jaxson is balanced in both directions with that agility usage. He had some of the most violent hands against the cream of the crop out of the OL group and if you want a workhorse work ethic in the trenches, Jaxson is sure fit for your program on Saturdays. Getting to play football down south should certianly rise the stock of one of Canada's best defensive ends in the 2028 class.

The Camp MVP of the Line of Scrimmage Big Dogs Camp was a no-brainer, as Hudson (WI) EDGE Jack Hatfield was a problem for just about every offensive linemen in Eagan most of the afternoon. We have mentioned liking the agility out of a bunch of prospects on Saturday but man, nobody could touch the twitch that Jack had on every rep on Saturday as he burned around blockers like they were on ice skates before the storm even hit last weekend. The other impressive skillset that Jack brought to the table was just how balanced he was with his footwork on every rep, as I maybe all day saw him lose one rep and the staff at LOS was trying very hard to get him to lose one from muliple spots in the defensive trenches but Jack could not be denied. You can tell the football IQ this young man has goes well above his measurables and surely is one that you go outside your measurables threshold for. I've learned for the last five years, that the Hudson Raiders know how to churn out college-level defensive linemen.
