Prep Redzone Iowa dropped a Class of 2028 rankings update at the end of last month. That followed a final update on the 2026 Class and an update on the 2027s.

We'll finish off the latest run with the unveiling of our initial 2029 rankings. Please keep in mind, it's real early for the freshman class and just a starting point for us.

Here's a closer look at guys in that recruiting cycle that you'll find in the upcoming release:

Soulinthavong didn't put up any statistics on an Ankeny varsity that made its annual appearance in the Class 5A playoffs, but the freshman was listed on the top team's roster. That's a hint the future is bright in a program that consistently ranks among the state's best at producing prospects for the next level. Soulinthavong certainly displays the ability to help the Hawk varsity as early as next season during his ninth-grade highlight video. On it, we witness a series of long runs thanks to getting downhill in a hurry and hitting the jets once finding some daylight. He's also a threat as a receiver coming out of the backfield. He lists his 40-yard dash time at 4.67 seconds with an impressive 16 reps of 185 pounds on the bench press. Soulinthavong reports a 28.5-inch vertical leap and a 425 pounds on the squat.

Christine spent the 2025 season developing as a freshman on the non-varsity level. He was one of the few ninth-graders listed on the Centennial varsity, however. That's a sign that the staff sees a bright future for Christine. We received a glimpse of that potential when watching clips on his Hudl page. While there's a limited amout of footage, we can witness a student-athlete physically advanced for his age. It shows up in his ability to effectively win against defenders as an offensive guard. Christine looks like a natural on the interior, forming a strong base, sliding with slick feet and showing strong hands when locking up the opponent.

Rasmussen spent most of his freshman season of 2025 developing on the lower levels of the Linn-Mar program, but he did get his feet wet on the varsity and was one of only three ninth-graders on the top team's roster. That bodes well for his future and puts him in position to make some noise as early as next fall. We can see the potential when watching his highlights on Hudl. We see a guy that embraces the game's physicality and uses it to win against opponents. Rasmussen operates with good pad level and utilizes his hands effectively. He moves well and appears agile. His frame also has room to fill out and add strength.

Lewis Central ranks among the state's top programs at producing prospects for the next level, regardless of class. Therefore, Scieszinski appearing on the school's varsity roster as a freshman in 2025 tips us off to pay attention. We don't have a whole lot of evidence as to his talents, but he provides us a glimpse with clips of three plays housed on his Hudl page. On the first one, Scieszinski lines up in the secondary and drops a ball carrier reaching for the end zone in a short-yardage scenario. On the other clips, he beats the defense with speed to the pylon around the edge and streaks down the seam to best a defensive back on a deep ball while playing receiver.

Platt got his feet wet on the Spencer varsity as a freshman in 2025. He carried six times for 51 yards and assisted on a tackle. Operating on the program's lower level as a ninth-grader, Platt compiled a highlight video of his top plays from his first high school campaign. A couple of aspects of his skill set and traits stick out quickly. First, Platt is physically advanced for his age. Lining up at quarterback, his speed and power overwhelm opponents. A strong arm also is present with an ability to fit the ball into tight windows and in pushing it downfield. Platt also flashes potential on defense, where he sticks in coverage and comes down hard against the run.

Sheedy brings a five-star name to the field and upside to keep an eye on moving forward. He was one of the few Davenport North freshmen to contribute during the 2025 season and his play was the most impactful from that group. The ninth-grader completed three of five throws for 50 yards and carried the ball four times for 21. Sheedy was credited with 11.0 tackles, seven of which were of the solo variety with 1.5 stop for loss. He also forced a pair of fumbles. We don't have a ton to go on when checking out what's on his Hudl page, but Sheedy flashes potential on both sides of the ball. One of the first clips shows him reading a play from the free safety spot, recognizing run and getting downhill to the ball in a hurry, when he levels the ball carrier. As a signal caller, there's pocket presence, quickness through progressions and a strong arm.
