<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>As customary with my event coverage, I feverishly write as many notes as I can, as quickly as I can, in order to report on as many prospects as I can. In this feature from Prep Redzone Next's New Jersey Exposure Camp, I share my positional notes for the group aforementioned in this article's title. More coverage on different groups will be forthcoming in the days to follow, so be sure to check back later!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Defensive Back Notebook</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>It was a hotly contested battle for top performer, in my mind at least, amongst the defensive back between the first prospect covered in this article and the last. First up was [player_tooltip player_id='1590596' first='Brice' last='Johnson'], a wiry 5'11" 146lber. What initially caught my eye about Johnson was how quickly he was able to backpedal - a clear indication of his athleticism; but what set him a part in my mind was how well he was able to play with his shoulders square to his matchup without tipping his leverage. Mind you, he did all this while maintaining outstanding pad level. When running in phase, he must get his head around to locate the ball; he did, however, have the presence of mind to match the receiver's hands when they extended or otherwise looked to make a play on the ball. A point that I actually had to roll up my sleeves and coach him up on. When jamming at the line, Johnson delivered an outstanding shock to the receiver, actually pushing them backward; however, his shot was so strong that Johnson put himself off balance. To my judgement it was because his pad level wavered on that particular rep. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>At 6'0" 183lbs, [player_tooltip player_id='2043858' first='Kingston' last='Moore'] was already one of the bigger defensive back prospects and, as such, in my mind I developed preconceived notions about him. Much to my delight, Moore showed better hips than I initially expected. Yet there was one thing that I thought Moore did better than anyone else in camp - use his hands. Like he was trying to pickpocket someone on the street, Moore was stealth-like with his hands, using them to control his matchup and also feel their breaks. He did all this, mind you, without committed any pass interference... Another prospect that had good, smooth hips was [player_tooltip player_id='1940373' first='Matthew' last='Vega']. Vega's hips allowed him to get in and out of his breaks with ease and also turn and run to cover deep... The youngest youngster of the group was 2032 graduate [player_tooltip player_id='2104625' first='Sylas' last='Mitchell']. At 5'6" and 107lbs, ran like a gazelle - very gracefully and effortlessly. As such, this 6th grader routinely threatened all his matchups with speed.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The top defensive back, and top defender for that matter, for the second-consecutive year was [player_tooltip player_id='1396263' first='Haiden' last='Redman']. I caught just a few glimpses of what Redman can do, and the results were mostly positive. Foremost, he is unafraid to use his hands when defending. As a result, he controlled the running back when they ran deep and had a sense of where he was going and what he was doing to avoid getting beat deep. Later on he had an outstanding route deploying the same tactic. At the end, however, I thought I would have thrown a flag for pass interference though.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Prep Redzone Next Who's Next: New Jersey Camp Coverage</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/burning-questions-qbs-must-answer-at-whos-next-exposure-camp">Burning Questions for Quarterbacks</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/burning-questions-d-line-must-answer-at-whos-next-exposure-camp">Burning Questions for Defensive Linemen</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/burning-questions-lbs-must-answer-at-whos-next-exposure-camp">Burning Questions for Linebackers</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/burning-questions-wr-tes-must-answer-at-whos-next-exposure-camp">Burning Questions for Wide Receivers, Tight Ends</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/burning-questions-dbs-must-answer-at-whos-next-exposure-camp">Burning Questions for Defensive Backs</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/burning-questions-rbs-must-answer-at-whos-next-exposure-camp">Burning Questions for Running Backs</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/burning-questions-ol-men-must-answer-at-whos-next-exposure-camp">Burning Questions for Offensive Linemen</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-prospect-offensive-eye-test">Offensive Eye Test</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-prospect-defensive-eye-test">Defensive Eye Test</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-top-defensive-combine-scores">Top Combine Performances, Defense</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-top-offensive-combine-scores">Top Combine Performances, Offense</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-offensive-top-performers-mvp">Most Valuable Player + Top Performers, Offense</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-defensive-top-performers-mvp">Most Valuable Player + Top Performers, Defense</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-defensive-back-notebook-pt-1">Scout's Notebook: Defensive Backs, Part 1</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-defensive-back-notebook-pt-2">Scout's Notebook: Defensive Backs, Part 2</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/02/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-defensive-back-notebook-pt-3">Scout's Notebook: Defensive Backs, Part 3</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-quarterback-notebook-pt-1">Scout's Notebook: Quarterbacks, Part 1</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-quarterback-notebook-pt-2">Scout's Notebook: Quarterbacks, Part 2</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/02/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-quarterback-notebook-pt-3">Scout's Notebook: Quarterbacks, Part 3</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-defensive-line-notebook-pt-1/">Scout's Notebook: Defensive Line, Part 1</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-defensive-line-notebook-pt-2"></a><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/02/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-defensive-line-notebook-pt-2">Scout's Notebook: Defensive Line, Part 2</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-running-back-notebook-pt-1">Scout's Notebook: Running Backs, Part 1</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/02/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-running-back-notebook-pt-2">Scout's Notebook: Running Backs, Part 2</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/02/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-running-back-notebook-pt-3">Scout's Notebook: Running Backs, Part 3</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-receiver-notebook-pt-1">Scout's Notebook: Receiver, Part 1</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/02/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-receiver-notebook-pt-2">Scout's Notebook: Receiver, Part 2</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/01/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-linebacker-notebook-pt-1">Scout's Notebook: Linebacker</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/02/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-offensive-line-notebook-pt-1">Scout's Notebook: Offensive Line, Part 1</a><br><a href="https://prepredzone.com/2026/02/prep-redzone-next-new-jersey-camp-offensive-line-notebook-pt-2">Scout's Notebook: Offensive Line, Part 2</a></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
