It's time to nail down the "why" with our 2027 rankings update in North Dakota as we start off our positional breakdowns with the quarterback position and will run thru just about every position in the coming weeks across the Peace Garden State. Out of the 190 ranked prospects in North Dakota, these to me are the top 10 quarterbacks as I tell you why they stand where the stand, where and how could they move up, and more as we break them down from QB10 to QB6 tonight, and QB5 to QB1 tomorrow morning.

Matthew has a great opportunity to move up a handful of QB spots based on what his upside shows on tape. His bread and butter is on intermediate routes as Matthew shows off good precision getting his wide receiver a good lead on the ball which stretches from over the middle of the field to the edges. I would like to see him ball placement develop with his arm talent placing of his throws outside when inside the red zone going for the end zone to give his WR a spot where only he can get it easier. The arm strength is there for Matthew to surely become a three level thrower as he has a good shot to move up in this 2027 ND class of quarterbacks.

Reese is a 6'2 190 pounder is one that I feel could be a big mover in this quarterback group into summer and his senior season out of Grand Forks Red River. I like the quick processing speed he has with his reads as even though he had a shortened season due to the injury, you can surely tell how poised Reese is inside the pocket. Mainly every throw you see from Reese on tape, shows off the balance college coaches are going to want to see this summer as you can tell Reese is accustomed with a well-versed football IQ. He's also super accurate that completed for over 69% of his passes in the 2025 season. TWITTER

Zach showed off a tape that I have to be honest, moved around some spots heavily in this quarterback group, which to me showed off upside of where Zach could take his game into summer camps and his senior season. What didn't take long to pop out was how sound Zach's ball placement was on his deep routes, as his throws he showed off quickly had great touch and arrived on time persistently. He's one of the most efficent quarterbacks in this group with utilzing tight windows and was efficently at throwing just pass the hash marks on the second and third level. From a development perspective, I would like to see more throws over the middle and to the edges to see even more efficency with his arm talent. Surely an under the radar quarterback talent out of Kenmare-Bowbells to know that I can't find on Twitter yet.

Kane is another next-level grade in this quarterback group out of Stanley checking in as QB6 on our most recent 2027 rankings update for North Dakota. The 6'2 180 pounder from Stanley appears to be one of the more relaxed quarterbacks within the group inside the pocket when pressured as Kane shows off sound poise and arm angles when a pass rush is coming near. You can also tell that Kane has good chemistry with his receiving core and it should be expected to grow ahead of the 2026 season as he and a few teammates have great shots at playing on Saturdays.

The quarterback I might be fired up about most out of this group might be [player_tooltip player_id='1626772' first='Kelton' last='Friesz'] out of Flasher. He came up as one of our call ups from the watch list and what he did with that call up is high level, becoming an 9-man All State quarterback in his junior season. The 6'3 165 pounder has all the arm strength you could want and excels with his tight window ball placement that he shows off pretty persistently across his junior tape. He's easily the most efficent quarterback in this group so far on deep routes and crushes it on his throws from a timing perspective as well. He has an excellent shot to be a strong mover in this quarterback group into the top five in the state as he's right there in my eyes. TWITTER
