Look-Ahead: Future 2029 Newcomers

We put a lot of time and effort into every rankings update, and yet somehow, the busiest time in adding players to the back end of our rankings is the week after a rankings release. Whether we discover new players, receive messages from guys we'll likely rank in the future, or simply miss players who already deserve to have a number next to their name, we usually have a list of players we plan to rank in the next cycle.   Here, we're leaning into that, with six 2029 players who could join the fray in the spring.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Six 2029 Players To Know for the Future</h2>    Seaforth isn't typically the defensive lineman capital of the state, but Pooley looks every bit like a potential Division I prospect. The freshman has great length off the edge, and several of his tackles for loss came on the other side of the formation, as he's relentless in pursuit. He's a budding pass-rusher, and honestly, we don't know a ton about him, so we're excited to scout him further over the next few seasons.     Werts played well in a couple of early blowouts before earning more consistent varsity run at the end of the season. He has excellent size, speed, and instincts for the linebacker position. Werts has excellent potential, and he's a guy we're watching closely over the next few seasons.     Parkland's future prospects are tied closely to how the absurdly talented Byrd-McCoy develops. He earned some varsity playing time down the stretch and flashed elite potential. He has an accurate deep ball and excels at throwing his receivers open, often throwing it behind or low to help his guys avoid big hits.     Jones earned JV and varsity playing time last season and pretty much played his way off of Junior Varsity by the end of the season after averaging over 150 yards per game there. He's yet another talented piece on a young Northside-Jacksonville offense that will look to build on its historic 2025 season.     We'd seen a few statistics from Clodfelter's 2025 season, but we hadn't had time to look at his film until recently. We like what we see from the rising sophomore, and think his contact balance and shiftiness should translate when his volume increases. The Cavaliers tend to be a pass-heavy team, but the departure of their leading rusher leaves plenty of reps on the table for the 170-pounder.     Not only did Untereker have a strong finish to his freshman season with 225 yards and two touchdowns in his final four games, but we've also begun to hear some awesome things about his work in the weight room. The multi-sport athlete contributed on both offense and special teams for Hickory Ridge last season, and he's continued to grow, turning into a legitimate weapon at the receiver position.    This is the time of year when we have the most time to dive into film, reevaluate prospects, and change our minds about players.
