Updating and growing previous classes always is enjoyable. That said, a first-time release begins a special journey for all involved.

The development of quarterback prospects within the state borders has picked up in recent years.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119998' first='Ethan' last='Cole'] was one of the lone ninth-grader to record statistics on the Marion varsity in 2025. He completed four of five passes for 63 yards and two touchdowns against no interceptions as one of the backups to a senior signal caller. Cole has the ability to win the QB1 job based on his highlight video from this past campaign.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119770' first='Hunter' last='Daniel'] developed his game playing on the non-varsity level as a freshman this past fall. He appeared on the varsity roster, however, and his highlight video shows a clear path to helping the top team in the future. That could be as early as next season with the Jaguars graduating their starter.

[player_tooltip player_id='1663794' first='Kolt' last='Davis'] is an excellent athlete that continues sharpening his skills behind center. While awaiting his turn for a varsity opportunity at that spot, he can contribute in other areas because of a broad skill set. Davis' highlight video illustrates the upside at quarterback and the versatility not to be tied into one position.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119862' first='Hudsyn' last='De Jager'] saw limited varsity reps as a ninth-grader but took steps forward working on his craft elsewhere in the Council Bluffs Lincoln program. Potential for a bright future pops out when viewing available clips on his Hudl page. His dual-threat skill set stresses defenses.

Linn-Mar only listed three freshmen on its varsity roster in 2025, and [player_tooltip player_id='2119809' first='John' last='Thoms'] was one of them. His ninth-grade highlight video provides evidence as to why the coaching staff showed that type of confidence in him. He's a handful as a thrower and runner.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119908' first='Brody' last='Wegher'] is the son of former Bishop Heelan, Iowa Hawkeye and NFL running back Brandon Wegher. Like his father, Brody flashes unusual athleticism that led to the completion of two of four passes for 33 yards and a touchdown, 53 yards on nine carries, a solo tackle and a 49-yard field goal as a freshman on a Sergeant Bluff-Luton squad that reached the UNI-Dome. Clips on his Hudl page should put him on the radar of colleges not already aware of him.

[player_tooltip player_id='2081105' first='Emmett' last='Joynt'] served as a Dallas Center-Grimes varsity backup as a freshman last season. Footage on his Hudl page shows us a signal caller with developing traits that could have him impacting contests for the Mustangs' top team before long.

[player_tooltip player_id='1709579' first='Julian' last='Parsons'] laid the foundation for future success as a freshman last year. Highlights on his Hudl page reveal a student-athlete advanced for his age in gaining yards with his legs. There's also potential for much more from a throwing standpoint and skills to work at another position if that proves to be the best path.

[player_tooltip player_id='2119971' first='Colton' last='Platt'] carried six times for 51 yards and assisted on a tackle for the Spencer varsity as a ninth-grader in 2025. His highlight video gives reason for optimism for what's ahead as a quarterback that can beat defenses in multiple ways. Speed, physicality and athleticism leave the door open for a position switch on the prep or college levels.

[player_tooltip player_id='1397721' first='Landon' last='Thein'] lets us know to keep an eye on him moving forward with what he shows on his Hudl page. Liberty likes dual-threat quarterbacks with high football IQs and this youngster appears to possess those traits.

[player_tooltip player_id='1909576' first='Alex' last='Vogt'] led Iowa freshmen QBs with 1,234 passing yards, completing 53.2 percent of his throws and tossing eight touchdowns in 2025. There's only a few clips on his Hudl page, but they do offer evidence as to how he succeeded as a ninth-grader and show the skills that could lead to more down the road.

Like Vogt, [player_tooltip player_id='1909568' first='Wyatt' last='Wilson'] was one of the most productive ninth-grader quarterbacks in the state with limited video on line to find out how he got there. We see a few tosses on a Monticello highlight video posted on his Hudl page. Wilson also stood out on defense as a freshman, giving him position flexibility college scouts can consider.
