Prep Redzone AL's 2025 All-State Team: DL Selections

What an unbelievable season we got to experience last fall!   Today, we're focusing on some of the most dominant DL across the state!   You won't want to miss out on this group of talent. Be sure to check out their film below. Now, here are our preseason selections:   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">7A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='646862' first='Jovon' last='Pulliam'] is one of the breakout stars of the season. He was dominant for Hoover's defensive front and made loads of plays in the 7A.   "Pulliam is an exciting DL everyone should look out for moving forward. He's fast, strong, and plays with intense effort every single snap, leading to a ton of great plays against the pass.   I love watching Pulliam with his hands in the dirt. He explodes off the snap, has a terrific blend of speed and power, and consistently embarrasses offensive tackles to get to the quarterback and create stops. I'm excited to keep watching Pulliam; he's been an exciting player to watch this season."   Pulliam had a terrific year, recording 91 tackles (16 for loss), 11 sacks, and 6 PBUs on the season. He's an ascending talent in the 2027 class we all need to get familiar with- check out some of his film below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">6A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1680281' first='Gabriel' last='Ervin'] is one of the top talents in the state's 2028 class and is coming off a dominant sophomore season in the 6A over at Gulf Shores.   “At 6'0 250, Ervin already has the size and athleticism to make some seriously impressive plays in the trenches. He plays with great leverage, has impressive strength/power, and can explode out of his stance to win matchups at the line of scrimmage.“   Ervin had a fantastic season, recording 73 total tackles (27 for loss), 11 sacks, and 19 hurries on the year.   Ervin will soon be a household name. He has a dominant skill set that will easily take him to the next level. Make sure you watch some of his film below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">5A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1075805' first='Demarcus' last='Dale Brown'] is an unstoppable DL from Williamson who took over the 5A yet again this past year.   “Brown is a star in the making. He has great size and plays with tons of speed, leverage, and strength to work around offensive linemen and create huge stops in the backfield. Brown is an every-down threat who dominates the run and can rush the passer really well.   Brown is extremely disruptive. He explodes off the snap, can fight off multiple blockers, and has the motor to make some incredible hustle plays. His pursuit and closing speed are super impressive to watch- it's super difficult for offensive lines to contain him.“   Brown was unstoppable this season. He ended the year with 95 total tackles (36 for loss), 15 sacks, 19 hurries, and 3 PBUs.   Brown is one of the most dominant prospects I've watched in my time here on the site. I highly recommend you check out his film below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">4A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1314954' first='Demetrius' last='Wilson'] is a dominant DL out of Jackson who impressed us a ton earlier this offseason, making him our pick in the 4A.   “At 6'3 290, Wilson is massive and gets great penetration on the LOS every single snap, no matter what offenses are trying to do. He explodes off the line, has violent hands, and can completely overwhelm OL with his combination of speed and power.   Wilson commands so much attention up front and still finds ways to work into the backfield to create plays for loss. He's a dominant run defender who eats up space, closes up rushing lanes, and finds his way to the RB every single carry.“   Wilson was unstoppable for Jackson's defensive front, ending the year with 110 total tackles (54 solo, 18 for loss), 7 sacks, 10 hurries, and even 2 INTs.   I'm a huge fan of Wilson and his game. Make sure you check out some of his film below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">3A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1907113' first='Will' last='Allen'], a Samford signee, had an unbelievable season in the 3A over at Bayside Academy last fall.     Allen had a fantastic season, recording 130 total tackles (35.5 for loss), 14.5 sacks, 31 hurries, and 3 FRs.   I was super impressed with Allen's season last fall. He made a ton of massive plays, be sure to check out some of his film below:     <h2 class="wp-block-heading">2A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='2100177' first='Radley' last='Mays'] is a talented DL from Coosa Christian who had a huge senior season this past fall.   "Mays is a seriously impressive pass rusher who constantly finds ways into the backfield. He has an explosive first step, quick hands, and great strength, which he uses to beat OL and generate pressure/sacks.   I'm really impressed with May's tackling and pursuit skills. He has impressive closing speed and can hunt down the ball carrier behind the line of scrimmage and in the open field for some huge stops for loss."   Mays had a big year this fall, recording 128 total tackles (44 for loss), 8.5 sacks, and 33 hurries.    <h2 class="wp-block-heading">1A</h2>    [player_tooltip player_id='1754148' first='Danny' last='Boice'] is a dominant force on Billingsley's defensive line who had a big senior season this past fall.   "At 6'3 255, Boice has the size and athleticism to create a ton of issues for opposing offenses. He's a dominant run defender who can quickly close down rushing lanes to create stops at and behind the line of scrimmage. On top of that, Boice is an impressive pass rusher who can consistently generate pressure and place hits on the quarterback.   I'm seriously impressed with Boice's hustle and pursuit skills. He's a high motor DL who can hunt down the ballcarrier for some impressive sideline-to-sideline stops in the open field and behind the line of scrimmage."   Boice ended the year with 71 total tackles (7 for loss) and one sack.   Boice put together some great tape from last fall. Make sure you check out some of his film below:
