The 2027 Class Rankings received its winter update, which brought over 100 new names to our radar and a huge overhaul to the rankings.. To continue coverage of the latest update, I will be highlighting some of the new names in the rankings. Some of these players made the jump from the watchlist to our rankings list, and others are completely new names that emerged throughout the season.

Despite playing a limited sample, Elkhorn South's [player_tooltip player_id='2110830' first='Luke' last='Carver'] left a huge impression after some solid DL tape. Luke saw time at DE and DT, but I think he projects best as a defensive tackle who can dominate on the interior defensive line. Luke is quick out of his stance and does a great job shooting with his hands, showing power and effective placement. Once engaged, he maintains a consistent pad level and can use his base to anchor on a block or drive linemen off the ball. Very strong player who can use all of his 6'4", 280-pound frame to generate an overwhelming bull rush, leading to him collapsing the pocket when rushing the pass or destroying inside run games.

The Elkhorn North Wolves have some defensive playmakers to keep an eye on this offseason, including rising DB [player_tooltip player_id='1699287' first='Noah' last='Ford']. Noah had a great full season in a starting role, tallying 41 tackles, two TFLs, and an interception. I was able to watch Noah in person this season, and my biggest takeaway was his size, standing at 6'3" and 190 pounds, with room to continue maxing out his frame. He also has great length to go with his frame, which helps him with defending passes. Noah is listed as a safety, but I can see him in a safety/nickel role where he can be moved around to matchup wth the offense. He has the speed and agility to hold up well in coverage with excellent range and break on the ball. You also get a willing run defender in Noah, who doesn't shy away from stepping up into the box and making a play on a RB.

Westside's [player_tooltip player_id='1085128' first='Andrew' last='Tagge'] looks primed for a big jump next season after showing flashes with limited touches. Tagge ended his junior campaign with 12 receptions for 114 yards and a receiving touchdown. Last season, Andrew was mostly used in the short and intermediate range, as he quickly created separation on these routes and kept the chains moving. At 6'1" and 180 pounds, Andrew has the frame to be physical against DBs at the LOS and make tough catches through contact. Tagge also played cornerback, where he showed the quickness to stick with receivers and the ability to challenge them at the catch point.

Central City's [player_tooltip player_id='2110832' first='Tristan' last='Richardson'] is an impressive newcomer to the rankings and adds to an impressive group of '27 offensive linemen. Tristan stands out immediately with his 6'4" and 290-pound frame that allows him to impose his will on opposing linemen. Richardson can really shoot out of his frame and keeps his hand ready to jab. Tristan is effective when shooting his hands with good placement and use of inside leverage. Once he's locked in with a defender, Tristan can use his strong base to drive them back. Consistent pad level. Tristan's mobility also stood out, as he moved quickly on his feet in pass protection and climbed to the second level to seal off LBs. You can see Tristan's mean streak throughout his tape with several clips of him looking to end his block with a pancake.

(@RuhterAustin12)

Junior [player_tooltip player_id='1085146' first='Austin' last='Ruhter'] is a prospect primed to have a breakout season next year as he takes on a bigger role on offense and will have a season at LB already under his belt. Last season, Austin recorded 51 tackles, 7.5 TFLs, 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery, while also posting 192 yards and three touchdowns on offense. My biggest takeaway from Austin's film is that, despite being "undersized," he plays with a motor and tenacity that far outweigh that. He is constantly playing at 100% from snap to whistle and is a sure tackler when he gets to the ball carrier. He does a great job reading his keys and is very good at filling his gaps with a quick first step to help launch him downhill. Underrated strength that allows him to disengage from blockers at the line of scrimmage. Offensively, I'm looking forward to seeing Austin get more touches so he can display his explosiveness and overlooked speed that caught our attention at the Stock Up showcase (4.66 40-yard dash, 9'4" broad jump, and 7.37 shuttle drill).
