After a prolific sophomore season, 2028 Bluefield QB [player_tooltip player_id='1166648' first='Max' last='Simpson'] moves up in the rankings as our #2 quarterback and overall prospect in the class. He threw for 3,400 yards and 41 touchdowns while leading the Beavers to a state title game appearance. Simpson took a significant leap from his freshman to sophomore season, improving on the high-level flashes he showed in his first year, making him one of the best prospects West Virginia has to offer.

2028 Pendleton County ATH [player_tooltip player_id='951269' first='Colton' last='Roberson'] proved that small school players can earn D1 opportunities in his sophomore year after earning his first offer from Marshall last season. He put up video game numbers for the Wildcats last season as the leading passer, rusher, and tackler, which aided his climb in the rankings as a now Top 5 player. Roberson's versatility is impressive as the type of athlete who can excel at any skill position, which will attract more D1 programs.

2028 Chapmanville QB [player_tooltip player_id='1315124' first='Dakota' last='Dalton'] led the Tigers to one of their best seasons in school history and is another quarterback in the class who D1 programs should know. He had an excellent sophomore campaign, throwing for 2,00 yards and 23 touchdowns with an incredible 83% passing completion percentage. That efficiency speaks to his accuracy and ball security to pair with his large frame and athletic upside.

[player_tooltip player_id='1221847' first='Takye' last='Porter'] had an electrifying sophomore season for the Nitro Wildcats in multitude of ways that earned him a small bump in the 2028 rankings. He proved to be a playmaker as a RB/WR on offense and one of the best returners in the state last season, totaling over 2,000 all-purpose yards. Porter is a highlight reel waiting to happen with the ball in his hands and a top ATH in the class.

The loaded 2028 quarterback class continues with Herbert Hoover's [player_tooltip player_id='1166650' first='Peyton' last='Grigsby'], who saw a small jump in the rankings. You saw the flashes in his freshman season at Capital, but Grigsby exponentially elevated his game as a sophomore in the Huskies' program. He'll have them in the state championship mix in each of the next two seasons from what he showed in 2025.

2028 North Marion OL [player_tooltip player_id='1624409' first='Evan' last='Miller'] took a small step back in the overall rankings, but now sits as our #1 offensive lineman in the class. He has a high ceiling for the position, and as a college prospect with the frame he possesses. Miller quickly improved his game from his freshman to his sophomore year and could make his way back up the rankings if he continues to develop over the next two years.

We're still waiting for r2028 Princeton OL [player_tooltip player_id='1692169' first='Colby' last='Justus'] to produce more game film, but he was excellent for the state champion Tigers in his sophomore season. He flips over from DL to OL in the rankings as a starter along the offensive front this season and stood out among a talented group of Princeton offensive linemen. More film could raise his stock even further from the small sample size we've seen from Justus, but he's a definite OL prospect to keep a close eye on moving forward.

Another 2028 offensive line prospect who saw his stock rise from this season was Bluefield's [player_tooltip player_id='1625644' first='Ethan' last='Thompson']. He's a cornerstone piece in the trenches in the Beavers' loaded 2028 class and will be a 4-year starter by the time he graduates. Thompson was an All-State performer as a sophomore and continues to be a top lineman prospect in this class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1591340' first='Lyric' last='Blake'] followed up his promising freshman season with a standout sophomore campaign and saw a jump in the rankings as a result. He rushed for 1,200 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2025 while helping lead the Bulldogs to a state semifinal berth. Blake followed that up with a strong showing at our recent Stock Up Showcase and is a top running back prospect to know in the 2028 class.
