Offseason Predictions: 5 Breakout Players in 2026 (Pt. 3)

The transfer landscape has yet to be finalized, which may impact some of these predictions in the future. However, here is one player from each school, listed in alphabetical order, that we believe will have a breakout season.</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>CAPITAL COUGARS</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Capital 2027 DB/WR [player_tooltip player_id='1616162' first='Demajaih' last='Spencer'] enters the offseason as a prospect whose upward trajectory continues to gain momentum. After flashing early potential earlier in his career, Spencer took a noticeable step forward during his junior season, producing 15 receptions for 253 yards while also contributing defensively with four pass breakups and an interception. That development pushed him further up the rankings and reinforced the progress he's made on both sides of the ball. With Capital consistently producing high-level defensive backs, Spencer now enters a pivotal offseason where refinement, physical growth, and consistency could elevate him into an even larger role. If he builds on last season's momentum, he has the opportunity to solidify himself as the next standout in the program's defensive back lineage as a senior.</p>     <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>CHAPMANVILLE TIGERS</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">2027 WR/DB [player_tooltip player_id='1154939' first='Kai' last='Martin'] enters the offseason in an exciting new chapter, transferring to Chapmanville for his senior season after the Tigers graduated their top three pass catchers. Martin built on the potential he showed as an underclassman, taking a clear step forward as a junior with 32 catches for 454 yards and four touchdowns while showing notable physical growth that elevated his overall game. With an expanded role waiting in a passing game ready for a new lead target, Martin has a prime opportunity to emerge as a go-to option and further showcase the D1-level potential he's displayed throughout his high school career. The offseason will be key for refining his route work, strength, and consistency as he prepares to make a significant impact in his final year.</p>     <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>CLAY COUNTY PANTHERS</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Clay County 2027 RB/LB [player_tooltip player_id='2124385' first='Brody' last='Scarbro'] heads into the offseason as one of the program's most impactful returning players after a strong junior season on both sides of the ball. Scarbro led the team with 877 rushing yards and seven touchdowns while also adding 228 receiving yards and a score, showcasing his versatility as an offensive weapon. Defensively, he contributed 64 tackles and 12 tackles for loss, highlighting his physical presence with his 6'2 180 frame. Scarbro brings an intriguing frame that still offers room for continued development. At 6'0”, 155 pounds, Clovis pairs length with athletic upside, further reinforced by his background as a standout track athlete. After earning Second Team All-State honors at defensive back as a junior, he heads into his senior season with both production and recognition already in place. With a championship foundation behind him, Clovis is positioned to elevate his game further and emerge as a strong breakout candidate in his final high school campaign.</p>     <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>DODDRIDGE COUNTY BULLDOGS</strong></h2>    <p class="text-gray-700">Doddridge County 2027 ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1354405' first='Brandon' last='Davis'] enters the offseason as one of the program's most versatile returning pieces after contributing in multiple phases during his junior season. Davis totaled 476 rushing yards and six touchdowns on the ground while also leading all returning receivers with 270 yards and three scores, underscoring his offensive value. Defensively, he added 83 tackles and five tackles for loss, further highlighting his all-around involvement. With proven production on both sides of the ball, Davis is positioned to take on even greater responsibility and emerge as a legitimate breakout candidate heading into the fall.</p>
