Rapid-fire transfer-portal movement dominated recruiting headlines all over the country for the first two and a half weeks of the new year.

That was as prevalent as anywhere in Louisiana where a long list of former prep standouts and current college players alike were on the move.

But once the transfer action largely subsided and college coaches were able to start hitting the roads and the phones to high school prospects, a slew of new offers headed out to rising seniors as the 2027 class begins to take more of the forefront in prep recruiting.

Note: Many colleges are still signing 2026 athletes as the traditional February signing day approaches — although in many cases just some final pieces to incoming high school classes that were heavily stocked in December's early period.

Prep Redzone Louisiana will run through the biggest updates on the recruiting trail that caught our attention during the final week and a half to two weeks of January, position group by position group as 2027 starts taking center stage.

Here's a look as the latest on the quarterbacks.

[player_tooltip player_id='642719' first='Elijah' last='Haven'] — 6-5, 215 QB — Dunham

One of not only Louisiana's, but the nation's elite prospects trimmed his long list of offers to a top four of Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Auburn midway through the month as he tries to zero in a likely decision before his senior years. Kentucky and Louisiana (Lafayette) both extended offers since that announcement with the former notable as the Wildcats recently hired former LSU offensive coordinator Joe Sloan, with whom Haven has a strong relationship from his time with the hometown Tigers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1250281' first='Karsen' last='Sellers'] — 6-2, 185 QB — Alexandria

The Trojans' soon-to-be third-year starter has long been one of Prep Redzone Louisiana's most highly ranked quarterbacks in the class behind Haven, LSU-committed Evangel Christian star [player_tooltip player_id='261907' first='Peyton' last='Houston'] and SMU-committed Benton star [player_tooltip player_id='465282' first='Malachi' last='Zeigler']. Several schools have expressed interest throughout his recruiting process, but Sellers had had to remain patient in wait for his first offer, which arrived Jan. 21 from in-state McNeese State. He should continue to be a name to watch as more of the quarterback dominoes in the class continue to fall into place, as colleges make their spring rounds to Alexandria and as he prepares for an active spring and summer on the road.

[player_tooltip player_id='489183' first='Parker' last='Robinson'] — 6-2, 200 QB — Neville

A pair of talented District 2-5A rivals, Sellers and Robinson, have been neck and neck in the Prep Redzone Louisiana quarterback rankings as two projected Division-I signees and both players received McNeese State offers Jan. 21. The Cowboys join Campbell and hometown ULM on Robinson's list after those offers last April. And, as with Sellers, Robinson has also been notably recruited by several Power-Four programs around the country and should be a name to watch as the quarterback board continues to take shape around the country throughout the coming months.

Jelandon Gray — 6-0, 195 QB — Barbe

The Buccaneers' quarterback entered his junior season this past fall a little further down Louisiana's quarterback rankings, but still within the potential Division-I range. Now listed a couple inches taller and with a prolific junior campaign under his belt, Gray also has picked up more D-I offers than any of his in-state peers outside of Houston, Haven and Zeigler. Home-state Nicholls State and hometown McNeese State both offered late in the season, and Old Dominion and Southern both made moves late this month. He is positioned as a likely rankings riser during the next round of updates for the class.
