Every year, we have several dozen breakout Juniors to shout out. Most of the time, a breakout Junior year is a result of years of constant hard work and dedication, finally culminating in amazing Varsity performance. Well, these five Sophomores showed they had what it takes to perform at the Varsity level. One more great offseason, and these players have a chance to turn into legit prospects.

Channing was able to carve out a significant Varsity role in Michigan's most high-powered offense.

He finished the season with 1183 rushing yards, in addition to 20 total touchdowns. Mostly utilzied outside the tackles, Channing displayed good vision and truly high-end speed. I don't know if he's quite as fast as the 4.4 40-yard dash listed on his Twitter, but I also don't think that time is too far off. On top of that, Channing is pretty elusive in the open field.

With further improvements to strength, twitchiness, and speed, I feel that Channing could legitimately be a Division 1 prospect. I wouldn't bat an eye if Channing ran for 1500+ yards next season.

Dacari is already ranked highly, but I feel he's got the potential for even more growth.

Dacari showed the same near-elite athletic ability that I saw at the MHSAA prospect camp in Jenison. Playing off-ball, Dacari was able to shoot gaps, earn free rides into the backfield, and blow up plays. Many of his best highlights come via a well-timed blitz, but he's also got a handful of genuinely good run reads. Although a tad short, Dacari's highlight tape does a great job showcasing his athletic traits and elite upside. I'm still extremely high on Dacari and think he could grow into a great Power 4 prospect.

An incredibly competitive prospect from Dexter, Gavin is currently the presumed Varsity starter in 2026.

He fits the mold of a Dexter QB extremely well. Gavin has a big arm, and does his best work when improvising outside of the pocket. Watch Gavin's highlight tape- you'll see him evade the pocket and launch accurate deep balls. To me, Gavin's JV tape looks similar to Dexter's Varsity QB's tape. Gavin fits the mold with Dexter incredibly well, and he's likely to have a breakout 2026.

Kameron has really nice potential, and I especially like his upside as a defensive tackle.

I was able to watch Kameron in his playoff game against Warren Cousino. In short, he's a big body, displays good anchor, and he's very hard to move. When it came to rushing the passer, Kameron struggled to get upfield in due time.

All in all, Kameron had a good sophomore season. He earned plenty of Varsity playing time and played well when on the field. This offseason, I'd love to see Kameron improve his strength and conditioning. If he's able to fill out his frame in addition to staying fresh through all four quarters, Kameron could turn into a dominant Varsity player.

I'm excited for Lou's Junior season. He had his ups and downs on Varsity this season, but his high points truly show his upside. Against great teams like Moeller, Lou was able to read the field, evade the pocket when necessary, and deliver accurate balls. It's clear to me that Lou has improved his mechanics, accuracy, and overall consistency in the past year.

Colleges tend to take notice of 6'3" QBs with a big arm. Lou has that kind of potential, and I'm looking forward to seeing how Lou improves during the new year.
