The offseason work for Gavin is already paying dividends so far in this 7 on 7 season. I have now seen him a couple of times and his arm strength, timing and accuracy are steadily improving. Tight windows and layered throws have been coming to him much easier than the bulk of the QBs I have seen this spring. I love his leadership and intangibles just as much as anything he brings to the team physically. Gavin looks ready to take the helm of an offensive that was absolutely historic one year ago.

Gavin had a really good day, and showed the intangibles that you can only get when scouting in person. First and foremost, Gavin is poised, and a true vocal leader. No matter what the score is, Gavin was rooting on his teammates, picking them up and celebrating them. Great leadership qualities are a must for quarterbacks. On the field, Davis was calm, confident and decisive. He has a big arm and trusts it. He mad a plethora of throws leading his receivers and hitting them in stride. He had no issue ripping the ball with velocity into tight windows and putting it where only his guys can get to it. An overall strong day for the Dexter QB who is putting in the work to take the reins for the Dreadnaughts.

An incredibly competitive prospect from Dexter, Gavin is currently the presumed Varsity starter in 2026.
He fits the mold of a Dexter QB extremely well. Gavin has a big arm, and does his best work when improvising outside of the pocket. Watch Gavin’s highlight tape- you’ll see him evade the pocket and launch accurate deep balls. To me, Gavin’s JV tape looks similar to Dexter’s Varsity QB’s tape. Gavin fits the mold with Dexter incredibly well, and he’s likely to have a breakout 2026.

A big jump from Gavin so far this season. He looks close to ready for Friday Nights.
Just watch the tape. Gavin went off against Brighton. I’m especially impressed with his improvisation skills. Commonly getting outside the pocket, and able to make plays with his legs and arm. Just watch the play at 0:26- Gavin evades the rush, runs all the way to the sideline, and launches a ball 25 yards downfield while barely staying in-bounds. Gavin seems most comfortable outside of the pocket. I like this style of play for Gavin, and it is one that will translate to Varsity.

Gavin earns a ranking after a stint on the Watch List.
Right now, I’ve got him at QB13. A super good ranking considering the massive amount of QBs ranked in the Top 100.
Gavin’s got what it takes to one day be a phenomenal Varsity QB. He’s as competitive as they come, and he’s on par with what I’d call a good future starter. Last I saw Gavin, he was pretty raw. Just based on clips on Twitter, he’s made a few noticeable improvements to his mechanics. He’s able to push the ball with a little better accuracy and velocity.

A quick shoutout for Gavin. From what I know if him, he’s a very competitive and determined football player.
His freshman tape proves that he’s got a good arm. Gavin is also a solid playmaker on the run. Of course, like any Freshman QB, there were some things to improve upon. Confident he’ll continue developing, and depending on Dexter’s QB situation, he could earn Varsity time this year.

Gavin has great freshman tape and could be on his way to a ranking.
He’s way ahead of the curve when it comes to arm talent and mechanics. I especially like his ability to make off-schedule throws. Several highlights show Gavin rolling out of the pocket, keeping his eyes downfield, and eventually throwing a strike to an open receiver. That said, his ability to throw off-platform is great.
I’d like to see more throws from the pocket, and I’d like to see his time-to-throw trimmed down. Other than that, great foundation.

Dexter has been on the up and up for a few years now, and now that I know Gavin is an incoming freshman, I’m confident Dexter will remain a contender for years to come.
Like most other 2028 prospects, most of my evaluations come from Twitter/X. On Twitter, Gavin has several promising clips from his training sessions. All in all, I really like Gavin’s current arm talent and accuracy. Gavin seems more accurate than the vast majority of freshman QBs, and his overall fundamentals are refined for his age. His footwork and throwing motion need some tweaks, but I’m confident that Gavin will become more consistent in both areas.
I’m very excited to see Gavin’s tape at the end of this season, and he has a solid shot at becoming RANKED by December!
