Open Division Round 1: Stars Who Shined

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Round 1 of the Open Division delivered exactly what playoff football promises—big-time performances, clutch moments, and stars rising under the brightest lights. From quarterbacks carrying their offenses to defenders taking over games, these athletes set the tone for a high-stakes postseason. Here are the top performers who made the biggest impact in the opening round.</h2>    In the opening round 22-14 victory over Centennial, Bodily had his best game of the season carrying the offense with 168 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries. Mountain View will play #1 seed Hamilton in the quarterfinals.     The big 6'3” 265 lb. defensive linemen had eight total tackles with the 3 tackles for loss and two sacks in the loss to Mountain View. Showed the ability to fight through contact, split double teams, and redirect in the short area to make plays at the LOS and into the second level.      Led Brophy to a 51-42 win in the shootout against Casteel accounting for over 400 yards of offense and 7 touchdowns. Completed 17 of 19 attempts for 284 yards and four touchdowns through the air and took 18 carries for 125 yards and three more touchdowns on the ground.      Smith battled to keep Casteel in the game all night, delivering a standout performance with four total touchdowns. He was remarkably efficient through the air, completing 16 of 21 passes for 209 yards and a score, and he proved just as dangerous on the ground, adding 101 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries. His dual-threat production consistently bailed out the offense and kept Casteel competitive deep into the game.      The Notre Dame commit caught 6 receptions for 110 yards and a touchdown. On the season, he's caught 68 balls for 977 yards and 11 touchdowns. He's the top ranked WR in the PRZ 2026 state rankings with elite ability in all categories from his route running to his ball skills and explosive playmaking after the catch.     The Stanford commit brought in 7 receptions for 106 yards and two touchdowns in the 51-42 win over Casteel. Elite two sport athlete in football and basketball he combines his excellent frame at 6'4” 210 lbs. with high caliber athleticism to be an excellent playmaker in the Brophy offense.     Fulmer had his best performance of the season with 8 total tackles (5 solo), 4 tackles for loss, and a sack in the narrow loss to Williams Field. A consistent disruptor that makes a ton of plays behind the LOS he finished the season with 9.5 sacks, and 17 tackles for loss. Only a sophomore, he's one to watch over the next several seasons.      Efficient passing performance for Barjona leading Williams Field to the 39-36 upset victory over Pinnacle. Completed 19 of 24 attempts for 221 yards and three touchdowns. Showed good pocket movement to avoid the rush and the ability to throw on the run with accuracy. Hit his spots to all three levels of the field in tight windows and in stride allowing his receivers to run after the catch.      Jackson scored 3 of Red Mountain's 4 touchdowns with 2 rushing and 1 receiving. Took 21 carries for 139 yards and added 3 receptions for 26 yards. He showed great vision and balance as a ball carrier fitting through several tight gaps to extend gains into the second level. Also displayed his downhill running ability driving his feet through contact to break tackles.
