Martinez, and Simmons Lead 2027 NY Ranking Risers

The 2027 Class, saw the breakout of many stud players from across the state. With the Winter Edition of our rankings coming up in a month, in this article, we take a look at five prospects, who will receive healthy bumps, as they make the jump from Junior to Senior Year. Only five players are featured in this article, but trust me there are tons of players who will see rises in their rankings. Holy Cross is still alive in the playoffs, and Martinez looks to lead his squad to the AA Championship game.   Martinez found himself ranked 149th, and the 15th best QB in the state, and he will see a healthy boost soon. On tape, he has a quick release, and a strong arm, allowing him to toss the ball deep with ease. He has solid footwork, and mechanics but can always refine those traits. Accuracy might be one of his best traits, as a majority of his throws are right in the breadbasket. Martinez has solid numbers to back up good tape, which should reflect in the next rankings update.      Simmons is a clear early miss for me as an evaluator. The Iona Prep EDGE, has an outstanding frame at 6'4" 220-Pounds, and has received multiple D1 Offers this season.   The Gaels prospect, has been a human wrecking ball off the EDGE, and displayed outstanding speed throughout the season. His strength is unteachable, and I like his use of spin moves to shed blocks off the EDGE. He has a high IQ, and can shed blocks quickly to close gaps. Simmons can work being more violent with his hands, as I believe this is the last trait he has left to master. Sitting as the 214th best prospect in NY, Simmons will easily find himself in the top 50 in no time.      The two-way star Trapani, has been electric all year for the Flyers. Chaminade has a playoff matchup against Monsignor Farrell this weekend, and I expect Trapani to have a major impact on the outcome of this game.   He is ranked 105th in the state, which is solid number, that still feels too low for him. His size standing at 5'7" 170-Pounds, leaves him with an undersized frame. He is an elite LB, and has a high IQ, paired with a never ending motor which he uses to become an enforcer in the run game, and control each sideline, wrapping up tackles before players can break free. I saw him a few times this season, and their were limited pass defense reps, leaving me to see him as an LB, who can be used in the run game, and as an extra rusher.      Nellis has been a major threat for this Eden/North Collins squad this season. The WR, found himself ranked 323rd in the state, and that is way too low given his season. Nellis led the state in receiving touchdowns with 21 this season, and having him back next year is huge for this offense.   Nellis has an undersized frame, sitting at 5'9" 145-Pounds. I want to see him reach at least the 160 mark to fill out his frame. He is a guy who can play in both the slot, and become an outside guy. I like his footwork, and he is displays an outstanding first step, and can create separation with ease. He works best down field, and I like his speed, which allows him to run past defenders.      Curylo, has been all over the field this season. The Junior LB, was amongst the top of the state in tackles. Curylo sits a the 227th prospect in the state, and he will see a major bump in his rank this winter.   Curylo, displayed outstanding footwork all season, and showed a good ball tracking ability. I liked his versatility in coverage, and he has the ability to drop back and cover TE, and showed good promise in Zone Coverages. He is an outstanding tackler, and seeing him move sideline-sideline, with his high motor, is must see TV
