As we approach Thanksgiving weekend, we have now entered the state semifinals in the state of Kentucky. Last week's Regional Championship action had a ton of excitement filled with close games and impressive individual performances. However, some players did stand out above the rest in last week's games. With that being said, here are my offensive top performers from the Regional Championship round in the state of Kentucky.

[player_tooltip player_id='401707' first='Evan' last='Hampton'] set a single-game school rushing record in Owensboro's win over Fairdale last week, running the ball 19 times for 326 yards and five touchdowns. Hampton showcased his explosive speed which he used burst through the running lane with a sense of urgency then run away from the defense on long runs. He also showed the contact balance to break tackles with ease without losing stride. Evan is committed to Vanderbilt where I can see him being a productive back at the next level. Hampton and the Red Devils will be looking to advance to the 5A State Championship in a tough matchup against Woodford County this week.

[player_tooltip player_id='1706081' first='JiDyn' last='Smith-Hisel'] is another running back who put together a very impressive stat line last week. He was dominant in Boyle County's Regional Championship win over Covington Catholic, carrying the ball 25 times for 440 yards and four touchdowns. JiDyn showed impressive vision, finding the running lane effectively then hitting it with a sense of urgency. He also showed the speed to run away from the defense once he hit the open field. Smith-Hisel doesn't currently hold any offers but he is a player who college coaches should be paying close attention to. JiDyn and the Rebels will look to continue their dominance in a semifinal matchup against Corbin this week.

[player_tooltip player_id='374785' first='Zane' last='Johnson'] continued to show why he is our top-ranked quarterback in his class last week, leading Trinity to a dominant win over Madison Central. Johnson completed 11/12 passes for 265 yards and six touchdowns. He showed very impressive arm strength which he used to stretch the field in the deep passing game. Johnson also proved to be an accurate passer, putting the ball in a spot where only his intended receiver had a chance to catch it. Zane currently holds offers from Akron, Southern Mississippi, Miami (OH),Eastern Kentucky, and Appalachian State, and I expect that list to continue to grow. Johnson will look to continue to lead the Shamrocks on their journey to their third-consecutive 6A state title in a matchup against St. Xavier this week.

[player_tooltip player_id='773223' first='Cross' last='Watson'] was Johnson's go-to target in their win last week, catching four passes for 127 yards and three touchdowns. Watson proved to be a very dangerous deep threat, using his speed to blow by opposing defensive backs with ease. He was also very impressive after the catch, showing the speed and elusiveness in the open field to turn short passes/screens into big gains. Cross doesn't currently hold any offers but I wouldn't be surprised to see some come his way soon as he has received a good amount of college interest.

[player_tooltip player_id='401703' first='DJ' last='Wilson'] has been on my radar for a while now and continued to impress in his team's win over Logan County last week. Wilson finished the game with 39 carries for 266 yards and two touchdowns. DJ proved to be a strong runner, showing the ability to keep his legs churning through contact while maintaining his balance to break tackles with ease. Once he hit the field, he showed the burst of speed to break away from the defense on long runs. He also caught a 15-yard touchdown pass in the win. Wilson currently holds offers from Grambling State, Thomas More, and Millikin, and I can see him being a true impact player where he decides to play at the next level. DJ and the Blue Tornado have an intriguing semifinal matchup on the road this week against an undefeated Franklin County team.

[player_tooltip player_id='1200701' first='JB' last='Woolum'] is another player who has been on my radar for a while now and continued to stand out last week. He was very impressive out of the backfield in Belfry's Regional Championship win over Breathitt County, running the ball 15 times for 128 yards and four touchdowns. Woolum has very impressive speed which he uses to burst into the open field with a sense of urgency then run away from the defense on long runs. He has also shown the contact balance to break tackles with ease without losing stride. JB also made an impact on defense in the win, finishing the game with five tackles and an interception. Woolum doesn't currently hold any offers but he is a player who I am expecting college coaches to have on their radar moving forward. JB and the Pirates have a tough matchup ahead of them on the road against Lexington Christian Academy this week.

[player_tooltip player_id='971503' first='Miles' last='Edge'] has had a strong senior year and continued to stand out in his team's victory over Somerset last week. Edge led Owensboro Catholic in rushing, finishing the game with 16 carries for 153 yards and three touchdowns. He proved to be a very shifty ball carrier in the open field, showing the ability to make quick cuts to make defenders miss. Edge also showed the burst of speed to break away from the defense on long runs. He also caught three passes for 21 yards and made a huge impact on defense, recording a team-high 16 tackles along with 1.5 tackles for loss. Miles currently holds an offer from Kentucky Wesleyan and I wouldn't be surprised to see more come his way this year. Edge and the Aces have what should be a very exciting semifinal matchup ahead of them this week against a talented Corbin team.

My final offensive top performer from last week's Regional Championship action in the state of Kentucky is [player_tooltip player_id='1346451' first='Duzye' last='Grundy']. Grundy played a key role in Atherton's impressive win over Bowling Green, running the ball 22 times for 266 yards and four touchdowns. Duzye proved to be a very strong runner, showing the ability to keep his legs driving through contact while keeping his balance to break tackles with ease. Once he hit the open field, he showed the elusiveness to make defenders miss and speed to run away from the defense. Grundy currently holds an offer from from Pikeville and he should see more coming his way as he definitely has the talent to play at the next level. Duzye will be looking to help lead Atherton to the 5A State Championship Game in a tough semifinal matchup on the road against Pulaski County this week.
