Red Mountain (7-1) vs Highland (4-4) (THU)

One of the more intriguing matchups of this week will be Red Mountain heading into Gilbert to face the Highland Hawks. Red Mountain after losing a tough game against Brophy Prep has rattled off 3 straight wins, recently beating their crosstown rival in the Gilbert Tigers, 49-33. Highland has had a rough start to the season, but they have been sneaking under the radar, winning their last 4 and shutting out Desert Ridge, 56-0. This game could propel Highland to new heights heading into postseason play as a dangerous team to face round one with the momentum they have found. WR [player_tooltip player_id='1682160' first='Anthony' last='Martin'] has been a key contributor as a deep threat and RB Cayman Mullenaux has been efficient in the run game, averaging 6.3 yards a carry in his last 4 games. Red Mountain's transfer QB [player_tooltip player_id='401158' first='Dominic' last='Carmigiano'] has been lighting it up since he has gotten on the field, with 7 TD to 1 INT in just 3 games. LB [player_tooltip player_id='739444' first='Jameson' last='Wade'] continues to be a force for this Mountain Lions defense, with 11 tackles in his last outing.

Higley (6-2) vs Williams Field (6-2)

Two red-hot 6A teams will look to solidify themselves as true contenders in their newly aligned region, as the Higley Knights host the Williams Field Black Hawks. Higley is riding high on a 3-game winning streak after recently beating Shadow Ridge, 49-24. Williams Field is also soaring with 4 wins in a row after beating Saguaro, 49-35. Both have offense that can put up points in a variety of ways. For Higley, they will be relying on their quarterback play from QB [player_tooltip player_id='1134311' first='Gunner' last='Fagrell'] to keep his hot streak going. He's played mistake-free football over his last three games, tossing six touchdowns with no turnovers. His top targets include WR Landon Banks, who can rack in yardage at a moment's notice, and WR [player_tooltip player_id='1399783' first='Anthony' last='Palka'] who has been emerging for this Higley offense in this winning streak. Meanwhile, Williams Field will be leaning on their rushing attack from RB [player_tooltip player_id='1369422' first='Courshawn' last='Hill'], who has 936 rushing yards and 16 rushing TDs on the season thus far. Pair that with RB [player_tooltip player_id='1430235' first='Q' last='Skillings'] and RB Romeo Jones, who combined have 10 rushing TDs and almost 700 rushing yards. Higley LB Dax White will need to have a big game in order to slow down this Williams Field run game and make them beat them through the air.

Mica Mountain (7-2) vs Sahuaro (7-2)

The reigning 4A champs in the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts will look to square off with one of their regional opponents in the Sahuaro Cougars. Mica Mountain has been dominant when it has come to this second half of the year, winning 5 in a row and most recently beating Catalina Foothills, 56-6. Sahuaro has also looked good as of late, winning their last 3 games, shutting out Amphitheater 42-0. Sahuaro's offense has been looking lethal, scoring over 100 points in their last 3 games. RB Julian Perez has been a large piece to this success as he has accumulated over 350 rushing yards and 4 rushing TDs. On the other hand, the Thunderbolt's offense can beat you in a variety of ways. They feature a strong one-two punch in the run game with RB Jeremiah Anderson and RB Colin Axford, who have combined for over 750 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns. But they also have weapons on the perimeter, including their swiss army knife in ATH [player_tooltip player_id='1669192' first='Riley' last='Carson'], who can beat in all three phases of the game or WR Evan Wheeler. Sahuaro's defense will be looking for their playmakers like LB [player_tooltip player_id='1603428' first='Jayvion' last='Gilbert'] and DL [player_tooltip player_id='1690695' first='Jaxson' last='Moore'] to disrupt this offense and get some takeaways.
