Gilbert is a high IQ defender with a great nose for the football totaling 114 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, and an interception during the 2025 season. 6’0” 180 lbs. he’s got a balanced skillset combining his athleticism and physicality to be a three down LB. Demonstrates good eye discipline and processing ability of his keys to react decisively and trigger without hesitation. Plays downhill as a run stopper shooting gaps with speed to close space and meet ball carriers with force. Shows he can play in space both as a tackler and when dropping into coverage. Thrives as a LB for Sahuaro but could transition smoothly to a safety at the college level. One to watch.

Gilbert is a pure defensive playmaker for Sahuaro finishing the 2025 season with 114 sacks, 9 tackles for loss, and an interception. 6’0” 180 lbs. he’s physical enough to stop the run but skilled and athletic enough to drop into coverage. Always finds himself around the ball with good play diagnosis ability and instincts. Shows good spatial awareness and understanding of route concepts in coverage to step into throwing lanes and play the ball in the air. Knows his assignment and where his threats are to be in the correct position to make a play. Against the run, he can fill a tight gap aggressively but can also play in space and bring heavy contact in one on one open field scenarios. Well rounded skillset with a strong foundation to build on.

Gilbert is a versatile kid that can really line up anywhere on D and be that difference maker. He matches up well against TE’s given his physicality, but can also match up on slots at the 4A level as he possesses the athleticism to either re-route opponents or turn and run downfield with them. Doesn’t shy away from contact as he did an excellent job filling run and providing run support from SS, MLB, and OLB all year, while also flashing sideline to sideline range. It will be an interesting year for Gilbert to see if he blossoms more as a SS or an OLB, but I expect him to be the leader of that Sahuaro squad and put himself on the map this fall.
