The atmosphere was electric in Williamston's game at Haslett, and they handled it well. They showed how well rounded they were on both sides of the ball and just how dynamic this team can be. I have high expectations for the Hornets in the postseason. Below are my biggest standouts from Friday night.

Parker had a great game on Friday night on both sides of the ball. Defensively, he was disruptive off of the edge and was able to play physical against the Haslett run game. Offensively, he provided a big spark, especially through the air with some key catches in big spots. Below are some of the notes I took throughout the game.

-Great open field tackles. Breaks down, stays square and wraps up. Avoids lunging and diving.

-Great play recognition. Multiple TFLs just from diagnosing the play and flying to his spot.

-Great hands and YAC abilities. Great hands and body control, and uses some vision and speed to make guys miss and grab extra yardage.

Joseph Smith was a great source of consistent yardage for Williamston. Whenever they needed to get back in rhythm and control the ball, Smith was always able to do that. He ran so physical that he really wore on the Haslett defense. Below are a few of my notes from the game.

-Great contact balance. Absorbed hits and was able to bounce off of defenders that tried to tackle him too high and was able to blow through arm tackles.

-Great burst through the hole, and then found the gaps to get out to the 2nd level and into open field.

-Finished every run. Extremely physical and was able to maximize every carry for more yardage.

Shad was the anchor of the Williamston offensive line all night long. A team that wants to be balanced and dynamic offensively needs an offensive line to set the tone and be able to execute. Shad did exactly that all night. At the center position, Shad was directing traffic, communicating and executing all night.

-Very physical, punishing offensive lineman with a mean streak. Consistently finishes blocks and opening up gaps in the run game.

-Great technique getting under the pads of the defender and uses leverage to drive them directly upon the snap. Good hand placement and strong platform.

-Commanded the offensive line. Very clear football IQ. Consistently identified assignments and was able to communicate with the rest of his line. His awareness is rare from a center at the high school level.

Kaleb put together a really solid performance. He was showed off his versatility and command all night long and proved to be a true dual-threat weapon. He was poised in critical moments and rallied his team, made high-level throws and kept his team out in front a majority of the night. Below are a few of the notes I jotted down on him throughout the night.

-Emotional and vocal leader. Led by example, pulled his team together in key moments and elevated the play of those around him.

-Strong and consistent arm. Whether he was in the pocket or outside of the pocket throwing off platform, he was able to spread the ball out all over the field.

-Quick and decisive as a runner. Huge upside when he gets in space as he can deliver accurate balls on the run or take off and get up field in a hurry. Dynamic playmaker overall.

I have been fired up to see Pratt play in person in the fall. I have only seen him work at 7 on 7's and things like that, but to see him on a Friday put a whole new perspective to his game. He was a true playmaker on both sides of the ball and a key contributor to Williamston getting the W.

-Reliable receiver with strong hands, excellent body control and making some impressive leaping catches.

-Uses his height and long arms to be a disruptive DB, as well as a wideout with a wide catch radius.

-Tremendous effort. Got up slow a few times because he absolutely laid his body on the line. Gritty kid who played his heart out.

The atmosphere was electric in Williamston's game at Haslett, and they handled it well. They showed how well rounded they were on both sides of the ball and just how dynamic this team can be. I have high expectations for the Hornets in the postseason. Below are my biggest standouts from Friday night.
