In a battle of arguably the top teams in the state over the last handful of seasons, Baylor went on the road and defeated archirval McCallie 38-35, scoring a touchdown with a little over a minute left in the game to pull ahead for the final time in the game.

Baylor 2027 running back David Gabriel Georges stole the show with nearly 300 yards and three touchdowns, looking like a man amongst boys throughout the game, especially stepping up after the first quarter where McCallie was able to shut him down.

[player_tooltip player_id='222957' first='Briggs' last='Cherry'] threw for a pair of scores with [player_tooltip player_id='958217' first='Jamyan' last='Theodore'] running for a long touchdown and [player_tooltip player_id='1300097' first='Kaiden' last='Dewey'] hauling in the game-winning score at the end.

https://twitter.com/ScenicCitySprts/status/1974305504345333918

McCallie used a physical and explosive downhill rushing attack behind quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1467540' first='Elliott' last='Drapeau'] and tailbacks [player_tooltip player_id='492556' first='Kris' last='Lloyd']/Xavier Fillion that carved Baylor up. In addition, [player_tooltip player_id='986024' first='Keeyshawn' last='Tabuteau'] took advantage of a safety looking into the backfield and hauled in an 89-yard touchdown reception as well.

In a battle of premier programs, there was several standouts, and if last year was any indication, these players could see a boost in their recruitment coming their way very soon.

SCOUTING THE STANDOUTS

Quarterback -

Baylor 2026 QB and Louisville commit [player_tooltip player_id='222957' first='Briggs' last='Cherry'] struggled early as he tried to throw off his back foot every play, but he got in a rhythm in the second half and was back to his traditional self in which he can maneuver the pocket and throw on the move, ultimately leading his team to a comeback victory.

McCallie 2028 QB [player_tooltip player_id='1362634' first='Louis' last='Fortier'] came in at times during the game and it is easy to see why they are excited about his potential. He is massive, athletic, and has a massive arm. He will have to improve his feel for the game and some decision-making but he made some explosive plays and should be an exciting young quarterback to watch in the state.

Running Back -

David Gabriel Georges was a grown man against boys in this game, rushing for a trio of scores and nearly 300 yards. He had one rush that even Marshawn Lynch would be proud of and he has taken an even bigger step this season. He is just different.

McCallie 2027 back Xavier Fillion is an exciting prospect that will step into a larger role next season especially. He has solid size and a stocky frame with the athleticism to make explosive plays as a rusher and that showed.

https://twitter.com/shaynep_media/status/1974300814987710861

Receiver -

Baylor 2026 slot [player_tooltip player_id='1300097' first='Kaiden' last='Dewey'] just continues to make plays. He is a smooth slot receiver with size and the IQ/feel to make things happen when they matter most. He had several clutch catches on drives and caught the game winning touchdown pass.

McCallie 2029 athlete Levi Scott is going to be a freshman to watch as the season progresses. He is explosive and shifty and McCallie can use him in a variety of ways, from screens to sweeps to down the field. He will need to get taller and stronger to survive long-term in this level of competition, but the flashes of potential in this game were very intriguing.

Linebacker -

Baylor added 2027 linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1512542' first='Khori' last='Faulkner'] this offseason and man did they need that. He has developed into an all-around playmaker and had an outstanding game. He is undersized still, but he has a stocky, compact frame and the strength needed to rack up tackle after tackle. He should begin to see college interest come his way this offseason.

In a battle of arguably the top teams in the state over the last handful of seasons, Baylor went on the road and defeated archirval McCallie 38-35, scoring a touchdown with a little over a minute left in the game to pull ahead for the final time in the game.
