It's October and that means we're updating all of our rankings across the classes. Before we get into ranking updates for 2026, 2027 and 2028, we need to take our first look at the 2029 class with our initial watchlist! The first official ranking for the 2029 group will come out following the season! Earlier this week, we released the 2029 Watchlist and today, we're kicking off our coverage of this group. And we're leading things off with the best of the best (so far) in this class. These five prospects all have a few things in common. They are already on the radars for D1 programs and they are already dominating on Fridays. We break them down below. Keep it locked in to Prep Redzone Oklahoma for more 2029 prospect breakdowns and every week for a new class ranking update!

Regent Prep quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1829254' first='Brody' last='Smith'] has had some highs and lows this season but the highs in our opinion vastly outweigh the lows. Smith won a QB battle for the starting job and he came out absolutely firing in his first ever start. In a 46-41 win over Haskell, Smith threw for 470 yards and three touchdowns on 30-50 passing. He also added 20 carries for nearly 100 yards and a score. 50 pass attempts and 20 carries in your first ever start is probably not what you draw up but that's what was needed to get the win and he answered the call. Smith, who's dad is former Tulsa QB Paul Smith, received his first offer from the Golden Hurricane. He's a legacy prospect for TU and one that has come out slinging it in his first year. There will be growing pains along the way but Smith has really impressed us with his overall production so far this season.

Broken Arrow offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1409130' first='Devin' last='Smith'] leads off a special trio of 2029 offensive linemen that are already on the radar of D1 coaches. Smith exploded onto the scene this summer when he attended OU's camp and picked up his first offer. It started there and that momentum has only continued this season. Smith is part of a Broken Arrow offensive line unit that we think is criminally underrated across the state. They have some absolute monsters up front and Smith is a key part of that group. he's lining up on the interior of Broken Arrow's offensive line and he's had a really strong start to his freshman season. Smith was one of a handful of players that we wrote about this offseason as a new name to watch this season. He's certainly lived up to the hype so far this season and it's going to be fun to see how he continues to progress.

Another offensive lineman that's been starting from the jump at the 6A-1 level is [player_tooltip player_id='1607998' first='Jamison' last='Mobley'] at Jenks. Prior to this season, Mobley was another 2029 prospect that picked up interest and eventually first offers from D1 programs. And if you talked with the Jenks coaches before this season, they would point to Mobley as the next guy up in this Jenks OL pipeline. And right now, the Trojans have multiple guys (not including Mobley) that hold D1 offers. Earlier in the season, Mobley was starting right away for the Trojans at right tackle. He's a player that has good size and also has a successful basketball background so the athleticism is there. One of Jenks' top senior prospects pointed out Mobley to us during a game this season and said "He's next up." It's easy to see why and he's in a great situation to learn from next level guys.

Carl Albert's [player_tooltip player_id='1701291' first='Jax' last='Wilkerson'] finishes off the trio of 2029 offensive linemen that you need to know about already. Like the other two, Wilkerson has already earned his first D1 offers and that list is only going to grow as he gets more experienced. Wilkerson is still very raw from an overall talent perspective but all of the traits for a truly elite offensive tackle are there. He has the size and insane athleticism combination that will make him one of the more sought-after prospects in the nation and not just in Oklahoma. The scary part? Carl Albert is incredibly experienced on the offensive line and he's a luxury player that the Titans don't NEED in their lineup right now. Wilkerson is able to learn from every angle of the game and that's going to make him a more dangerous player moving forward. Every prospect has a ceiling but Wilkerson's is as high as it can get.

At the end of this season, we'll announce our fourth annual Freshman Of The Year award. As of right now, the competition isn't even close as Altus quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1667339' first='Jeymon' last='Reed'] is running away with this award. He's led the Bulldogs to a 5-0 start on the season and he's putting up monster numbers on a weekly basis. Whether he's using his arm or legs, he's torching defenses and it doesn't matter if he's only playing a quarter and a half (like last week) or a full game. Reed has been incredibly productive and he's lived up to all the offseason hype. Reed was a 2029 prospect that we really liked coming into his freshman season. We got the chance to watch him in person and also countless clips of his overall athletic ability and were sold he would be a good player. But he's exceeded all preseason expectations. We're looking forward to seeing how Reed handles the second half of the regular season against the tougher part of the Altus schedule.
