This season, we have started a new idea at Prep Redzone called “Power Scores”. “Power Scores” are computer-generated team rankings (not scout-based) that take into account various factors which can be found here. With that being said, I wanted to take a look at where our “Power Scores” stand in the state Kentucky heading into Week 9 in each class and focus on an impact player on each time in the Top 10. To kick things off, here are some impact players for the Top 10 teams in 6A in our Week 9 “Power Scores”.

1. South Warren:

South Warren lands at the top of our 6A “Power Scores” following a 7-0 start to their season. Senior [player_tooltip player_id='1954622' first='Kayden' last='York'] has played a key role in their success. Through seven games, he is their leading rusher with 92 carries for 510 yards and 11 touchdowns. York is a shifty ball carrier, showing the ability to use quick cuts to make defenders miss with ease. He also has the speed to break away on long runs at any given moment. Kayden has also caught 15 passes for 189 yards and three touchdowns, and has record 20 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one interception this season. York should be a player for college coaches to pay close attention To throughout the rest of the year.

2. St. Xavier:

St. Xavier has continued to prove to be one of the more talented teams in the state this season, led by their star playmaker [player_tooltip player_id='212336' first='Marlon' last='Harbin']. Harbin has done it all for the Tigers on offense this season, leading them in both rushing and receiving through seven games. He has carried the ball 42 times for 273 yards and six touchdowns while catching 34 passes for 361 yards and four touchdowns. Marlon is an electric play maker in the open field, using his speed and elusiveness to pick up a big gain at any moment. He has also returned one kickoff for a touchdown this season, and has made an impact on defense, accounting for 29 tackles, one tackle for loss, and an interception. Harbin is committed to Louisville where I can see him being a productive player at the next level.

3. Trinity:

The defending 6A Champion Trinity Shamrocks have gotten off to a strong start to their season, led by their talented junior quarterback, [player_tooltip player_id='374785' first='Zane' last='Johnson']. Through eight games, Johnson has completed 99/158 passes for 1,599 yards, 24 touchdowns, and three interceptions. Johnson has a very strong arm which he uses to stretch the field with ease in the deep passing game. He has also shown an impressive amount of touch in his passes, putting the ball in a spot where only his intended receiver can catch it. Zane currently holds offers from Akron, Southern Mississippi, Appalachian State, Miami (OH), and Eastern Kentucky, and I expect more to come his way as he is a true Division I caliber quarterback prospect.

4. Madison Central:

The Indians are off to a strong start to the 2025 season, due in large part to impressive play from their defense which is led by junior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1954625' first='Liam' last='Dailey']. Dailey lines up at outside linebacker where he is dominant against the run, showing the ability to read the play quickly then use his speed to get to the ball carrier in a hurry. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he is a very reliable tackler, leading his team with 81 tackles and seven tackles for loss through seven games. He has also proven to be an effective pass rusher off the edge, recording 4.5 sacks so far this season. Dailey should definitely be a player to keep a close eye on over the next couple seasons.

5. DuPont Manual:

DuPont Manual has continued to be one of the more impressive teams in 6A this season, led by strong play from their junior quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='817258' first='Kaden' last='Mack']. Through seven games, Mack has completed 60/118 passes for 881 yards, 13 touchdowns, and two interceptions. Kaden has shown impressive ball placement this season, showing the ability to fit passes into tight coverage where only his intended receivers can catch them. He has also shown the arm strength to lead his receivers down the field in the deep passing game. Mack has also shown very impressive mobility, whether it is using it to escape pressure to make throws on the run or tucking the ball to make plays with his legs. Kaden has carried the ball 71 times for 456 yards and three touchdowns so far this season. Mack is a quarterback who college coaches should keep a close eye on as he continues to develop over the next two years.

6. Frederick Douglass:

The Broncos are another talented 6A program that has continued to find success this season. One of the key players leading the charge for them is junior safety [player_tooltip player_id='1314812' first='Cionne' last='Conn']. Conn has been very impressive in coverage this season. He does a great job of reading route combinations then flowing through the secondary to put himself in a position to make a play. When the ball is thrown in his direction, he has shown tremendous ball skills, coming away with a team-high two interceptions through seven games this season. Conn has also shown the ability to fill the lane and provide support against the run, recording 44 tackles and one tackle for loss so far this season. He has also returned a fumble recovery for a touchdown this year. Cionne currently holds offers from UT-Martin, Southern Mississippi, and Eastern Kentucky, and I expect that list to continue to grow over the next couple seasons.

7. North Hardin:

North Hardin has had one of the more explosive offenses in the state this season, due in large part to senior wide receiver [player_tooltip player_id='894941' first='Ronald' last='Lunz']. Through their first seven games, Lunz leads his team in receiving with 31 catches for 570 yards and nine touchdowns. Lunz is one of the better route runners that I've seen in the state, using a quick release and sudden breaks to create separation from opposing defensive backs with ease. He is also impressive after the catch, using his speed and elusiveness in the open field to turn short passes into big gains. Lunz currently holds offers from Eastern Kentucky, Kentucky, Western Kentucky, Southern Mississippi, and Miami (OH), and I expect more to come his way throughout his senior year.

8. George Rogers Clark:

The Cardinals have been one of the most-improved teams in 6A this season, led by the outstanding play of junior [player_tooltip player_id='1183082' first='Braylon' last='Nester']. Nester is a very explosive play maker out of the backfield who uses his speed to burst through the running lane then run away from the defense on long runs. Once he hits the open field, he has shown the elusiveness to make defenders miss along with the contact balance to break tackles with ease without losing stride. Through eight games, Nester leads his team in rushing with 85 carries for 772 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has also caught 10 passes for 143 yards and two touchdowns, and has recorded five tackles, one tackle for loss, and an interception so far this season. Braylon should be a player to continue to watch over the next two years.

9. Fern Creek:

Fern Creek is a team who has had an up and down 2025 season but has shown some promise. A key player who has stood out for them so far is senior linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1099757' first='Cage' last='Fannin']. Fannin lines up at inside linebacker where he is very reliable against the run, reading his keys effectively then coming downhill in a hurry to make the tackle in the open field. Through six games, Fannin leads the team in tackles with 45 along with seven tackles for loss. He has also shown the ability to make plays against the pass, both as a pass rusher and in coverage, accounting for three sacks and three interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) so far this season. Fannin has also played a role on offense at tight end this season, catching one touchdown pass so far. Cage doesn't currently hold any offers but he is a player who college coaches should have on their radar this season.

10. Oldham County:

To wrap up our 6A Top 10 in our Week 9 “Power Scores” in the state of Kentucky, I have the Oldham County Colonels. The Colonels have been very impressive on the defensive side of the ball this season, led by sophomore linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1907207' first='Jess' last='Officer']. Jess lines up at inside linebacker where he is a very effective run stopper. He reads his keys quickly then explodes out of his stance to get to the ball carrier with a sense of urgency. Once he gets to the ball carrier, he does a great job of running his feet to secure the tackle and finishes his tackles with a ton of physicality. Officer leads his team with 60 tackles along with seven tackles for loss through six games. He has also recorded one sack and an interception so far this season. Jess will be a player for college coaches to pay close attention to as he continues to develop over the next few years.
