Let's spice things up around here. You have opinions. We want to recognize them. That will be done with a weekly poll on what's called "Weigh-In Wednesday."

This week, we're asking for your vote on the top quarterback in Class 5A. Below you'll find candidates and their credentials. Write-ins are welcome if you don't see your guy.

Reece Rettig Reece Rettig 5'10" | 160 lbs | QB Iowa City Liberty | 2026 State IA , SR, Iowa City Liberty: The Lightning signal caller has completed 73.7 percent of his passes for 677 yards with eight touchdowns against six interceptions. Mack Heitland Mack Heitland 6'1" | 170 lbs | QB Waukee Northwest | 2027 State IA , JR, Waukee Northwest: Completing an eye-popping 80 percent of his throws, the Wolves junior has 815 yards and eight touchdown passes with no interceptions. He's added a TD on the ground.

Cal Jepsen Cal Jepsen 5'10" | 180 lbs | QB Sioux City East | 2026 State IA , SR, Sioux City East: Jepsen has completed 67.1 percent of his passes for 682 yards and seven touchdowns with three interceptions.
