Week 5 Preview: Granger at Taylorsville

Granger is finding their stride as region play commences and Taylorsville has been a team that's been a few plays away from a momentum shift. Who are some key players? Let's find out! Granger    Owen has found his stride these past couple of games and finally appears to be confident within the system. He came in late to the program, and now that he has games under his belt, region play comes at the right time. He has a big arm but isn't afraid to take what the defense gives him; he'll take the check down but will still look at the deep shots. His ball placement has vastly improved, and he's coming off his best week. He'll look to pick apart the Taylorsville defense.     Bobo has filled in tremendously at the running back position. He is a physical runner with a good short area burst. He moves well laterally, showcases good contact balance, and is a runner who has done well handling a bigger workload. He is a runner who will finish off his runs and is willing to take on defenders.     Uli has been a playmaker this year and has been an explosive player. He is good off the line and does well creating separation and getting open. He transitions well upfield and has good vision. He has been a key target in high-leverage situations and will look to feast on the Taylorsville secondary unit.     Mateni has been a two-way player, and he's been used as a weapon on offense. He has been efficient with each touch and is a player who has been explosive with the ball in his hands. He does well creating on his own and has the vision to see two to three steps ahead. He's been used as a receiver and as a runner to supplement the run game. He's a threat to take it to the house with every touch.     Havili is one of the better defensive tackles. He has a good frame, shows good physicality, and has a quick lateral burst to overwhelm his lineman and gets him off-balanced. He has active hands, and he is a player who is disruptive. He'll look to create havoc against Taylorsville.     Ifo has been an exceptional EDGE rusher. He is great off the line and shows good hip bend and has good overall quickness. He can win with power and speed. He does well in getting by his lineman and showing his closing speed and has good pursuit. He's been great at bringing pressure.     Lu is a versatile lineman and can line up anywhere along the line. He has a good frame and strength to be an interior rusher and has the speed and quickness to be on the EDGE. He is excellent at overwhelming his lineman and creating pressure and impacting the game as a key rusher. His speed and power blends beautifully.     Izayah is an exciting cover corner who shows good instincts and has good hip fluidity. He does well in sticking to a receiver's hip pocket, and he has the range and closing speed to be a deep safety and be comfortable in zone coverage. He has good ball skills and is a defensive back who will be looking to change the momentum of the game when on the field.    Taylorsville    Shane is the best player on the Taylorsville team, and he is an exceptional Offensive Lineman. If the offense is to move the chains, they'll need to run behind him, as he'll create opportunities for the back to get through the first level. He is an excellent pass blocker and showcases great footwork, and has an excellent base and technique.     Vargas has been used as a two-way player this year, and he's done well when given the oppurtuity as a running back. He shows good contact balance, can get through the first level and does a good job of picking up the tough yards. Defensively, he's one of, if not the best, players on that side of the ball for Taylrosville and is best as an on-ball backer. He does a good job of pressing forward, avoiding being bogged down by traffic, and does well at pursuing the ball carrier and creating pressure while limiting big plays. If they use him more as a runner on offense and can build momentum and shorten the game, and if he can make plays on defense, it will go a long way in making this a close game in the second half.     Keyshawn has been a big play receiver when given a chance. For Taylrosville to move the chains and maintain possessions, they'll need to target him and let him work. If they scheme him up in the short game and let him create on his own, they can extend the time of possession while tiring out the Granger defense. If Taylorsville is to have a shot, they'll need to get him involved.    That was our look at Granger and Taylorsville.

Granger
