With a full week 1 for everyone under our belts now, I take a look at some of the top performances from prospects currently unranked in the MD rankings. These players have been impactful for their teams and put up some big time numbers already. Their play has not gone un-noticed and they will certainly be in the next rankings updates.

Currently leading the state in both rushing yards and total TD's Carson is off to an immaculate start of the year in just 2 games for John Carroll. Carson has accumulated 241 rushing yards, averaging over 6 ypc, 3 rushing TDs and 2 receiving TDs on a 21 yards per catch average. With those numbers Carson is proving himself to a be a dual threat RB option that teams need to know where he is at on the field at all times.

Carson is a slasher type running back. He's got great feet and quick and twitchy. Displays great explosivness and speed, hitting the hole with pace and breaking into open space. He has make you miss ability, at the LOS and in the open field. A threat in the passing game out the backfield as well. He can take a screen or swing route and take it the distance weaving through defenders. A versatile, athletic, playmaker - I expect Carson to be a top back this fall and will certainly make a strong debut in the next rankings.

Gerard just recently had a huge game in week one and while RM came up short against Damascus it was no fault of his. He totaled 128 receiving yards on 4 catches for an impressive 32yds per catch. Gerard also had 2 scores on the day, one receiving of 80yds and one on a KR he took 95+ yards to the end zone.

His receiving score came form a simple dig route. Gerard made the catch in stride and took it across the field to the sideline, dodging and out running the whole defense for the score. His kick return score, Gerard ran hard breaking through tackles and showing good balance while he out ran everyone for the TD once again. Gerard displays nice speed as shown by those two plays where no one could catch him or even barely lay a hand on him. He's got nice wiggle and vision with the ball is hands and a threat to house it anytime he touches it. A big time playmaker for Richard Montgomery. I expect Gerard to continue to make highlight plays each week.

Kaden is MD's third highest passer in terms of yardage after just one game. In Arundel's victory over River Hill he threw for just under 400 passing yards with 2 TDs. Kaden dotted it up all over the field getting the ball to multiple receivers. His one TD came on a nicely place outside shoulder deep ball to the front pylon of the end zone where his WR went up to secure the catch for the score. While Kaden did rush for 34 yds in the game, he routinely made plays with his legs in the passing game. An athletic and slippery QB in the pocket. Kaden looks to extend the play with his legs, rolling out and hitting receivers on the move. He shows good pocket awareness, keeps his eyes downfield while on the move and throws accurately on the run. Overall Kaden shows impressive overall accuracy and playmaking ability from the QB spot, while also getting nice zip on his passes. I expect Kaden to continue to put up big time numbers all year in Arundel's passing offense.

Michael had a huge game for North Hagerstown in their victory over Tuscarora last week. He rushed for 181 yards on an impressive 10.06 ypc and had 2 rushing TDs. After his game 1 performance Michael put himself at #6 in the states highest rushing totals, with most player above him having player in 2 or more games already this season.

A good framed RB with an upright running style, Michael is capable of changing direction quickly as he shows rapid feet and nice wiggle. He is best in counter or mis-direction type runs as he can get up to speed and use his vision to his advantage. On his biggest TD run of the game of 55yds, Michael came one way, got away from some tacklers, then reversed field going back all the way to the opposite sideline where he proceeded to turn it up into 2nd gear and out run everyone to the end zone. Michael can also take it between the tackles. Hitting the hole with burst and getting downhill with low pad level. Hit quick cut ability and vision as a RB makes him dangerous as a runner. You just know eventually he will break the big one and I see him putting up similar numbers week after week for North Hagerstown.

Andrew is having a great start to the year for a surging St. Paul's team. In week one's game where St. Pauls went to OT versus a very good St. Albans (DC) squad, Andrew was huge contributor on both sides of the ball. He had 7 rec. for over 100 yards, 2 TDs and 1 interception. That is a do it all big time game against legit competition for Andrew. This past week he had 2 more receiving TDs in St. Pauls big win oner Northeast HS.

With a great size, frame, and length at 6'4" 210, Andrew looks the part of a big X WR. He's a smooth, glider runner, a nice overall athlete and a basketball player as well. You see that translate on the field as he is an excellent leaper. Shows good balls skills, can track it and will go up and get it over defenders/ make the difficult catch. Andrew shows some good route running skills that continues to improve. He can break down, stick his foot in the ground to make cuts and working on developing the full route tree into his skill set. On defense, you see Andrew cover ground and can be a centerfield type ball hawk DB.

Overall I really like Andrew's size, athleticism and potential as a prospect. A high academic kid as well, an IB Student with high test scores. You combine all those attributes and he is a sleeper prospect colleges need to get on now. I can see plenty of FCS/D2 and high academic reaching out to Andrew in the upcoming weeks.
