09/18: Rush-Henrietta Advances to 3-0 over Aquinas, 21-7

Rush-Henrietta once again was victorious as they beat Aquinas with the final score of 21-7. The first points of the game came by [player_tooltip player_id='1563822' first='Imani' last='Wagstaff'] on a simple check and release angle route. It was a smooth route in which Wagstaff was left with space for his QB to hit him in stride. The Royal Comets struck again when Kendrick Jackson showcased his sharp cutting ability in his toolbox for a 6'1” WR. He leaned on that ability after the catch to get into the end zone. [player_tooltip player_id='606249' first='Amere' last='Brewer'] was also a player used a lot on motions and the quick passing game that kept Aquinas on their toes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1144300' first='Noah' last='Collins-Howard'] continues to impress with his electric playmaking ability. He hauled in an incredible catch over the middle of the field, broke multiple tackles, and used his elite speed to race into the end zone. Likewise, whatever school at the next level receives his talents, they are getting a bright young man on and off the football field. Thereafter, Collins-Howard's old teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1621904' first='Jeffery' last='Logan III'] responded with a kickoff return TD. Driving over defenders on his way into the end zone on the kickoff was forceful and powerful from Logan III.

By the same token, [player_tooltip player_id='619468' first='Ronin' last='Walker'] and fellow defenders like Brandan Mangone had the task of containing Logan III. That job by both players in the run defense was impressive to watch throughout, especially being physical and fast to the LOS.

Rush-Henrietta looks like a true team that is coached incredibly well by Bruce Johnson, and they can go a long way. They ended the day with 227 total yards, 219 of them coming through the air.

09/20: UPrep Blocks Fairport's Last-Second Victory, 35-26

It was such a back-and-forth game between University Prep and Fairport High School under the lights on Friday night. Both QBs, [player_tooltip player_id='1513210' first='Gavin' last='White'] for UPrep and Sam Roselli, played an incredible game. The first score came from RB [player_tooltip player_id='1344737' first='Kamari' last='Miller']. He was able to break a tackle and reach for the end zone for the 7-0 score. Following, the first score of the night for Fairport came from TE Ryan Sullivan. He outraced both [player_tooltip player_id='806370' first='Ja'yvion' last='Sampson'] and Ajay Cotton to tie the game. Sullivan had a large role on the defensive side as he forced a huge fumble recovery.

Senior James Krester is proving to schools in his senior season that he has the hustle and determination. A key play was him chasing down Levans III from the opposite side of the field to prevent him from scoring. Even more, making TFLs in multiple defensive plays in the run game.

A big key in success through the air for UPrep was [player_tooltip player_id='1165903' first='Thomas' last='Levans III'], who had 183 receiving yards and 1 TD. By and large, Levans III proved to be a factor on defense, ending the game with 6 tackles.

One of the biggest throws of the night came from Roselli as he was able to extend and then hit Jonathan Roessel on a 35-yard touchdown pass. Equally, the contested catch that Roussel made to outjump the defender was electrifying to see. Even though the Red Raiders scored, UPrep failed to convert in three plays. Hence, giving the ball right back to Fairport with under 2 mins to play. Roessel and Fairport's offense drove into FG position for the game-winning kick. Forthwith, [player_tooltip player_id='1513210' first='Gavin' last='White'] made an incredible play blocking the kick, and [player_tooltip player_id='806370' first='Ja'yvion' last='Sampson'] returned it 70 yards to the end zone for the score. UPrep will take on the mighty Royal Comets, and Fairport will take on Pittsford. Two games that are highly anticipated matchups.
