I'll begin by speaking about ASG Metro's quarterback for the entirety of the tournament, that being 2027 Piscataway QB [player_tooltip player_id='1196461' first='Landon' last='Pernell']. He received serious consideration for the top 18U QB performer spot and, I might argue, was snubbed a bit, as Pernell ultimately was the reason ASG won the highest division present this past weekend. He was willing to give his weapons a shot in a setting like this, and I applaud Pernell's decision making, as well as the approach he brought forth. Playing too passively or overthinking can often halt QBs at 7v7s. Pernell, who is an experienced 2027, blended a caution to the wind approach with confidence and surgical accuracy. You can see some of the tight windows Pernell fit balls into in the video below. I'd love to learn more about how close these young men and coaches are. The sets they ran were orchestrated to a tee, with hardly any hiccups, and hardly any arguing or back and forth. This group was set on winning this event, and the video below and eventual score prove that.

I could mention several ASG Metro players who contributed to the eventual 18U championship victory. For now, I'll focus on Rahmel Barr, [player_tooltip player_id='1354559' first='Josiah' last='Jones'], and [player_tooltip player_id='432324' first='Jamel' last='Hammary'].

All three of the skill players mentioned above will land on our Top 10/20 lists, which will release shortly after this article releases. The video below mainly showcases offensive reps, so elite defensive performances put forth by [player_tooltip player_id='909278' first='Taylor' last='Daniels'] and others will not be included in the video for now. That being said, you can witness Rahmel Barr, a 2028 out of Franklin HS, and [player_tooltip player_id='1354559' first='Josiah' last='Jones'], a 2028 out of St. Peter's High School, making several catches, not all of which were easy, I might add. It is easy to understand why Pernell looked so good at QB when you have high flying, easy separators like Barr and Jones in your arsenal.

Far and away my favorite prospect on ASG Metro is the one you'll see catching the most footballs in the video below, as well as the one coming away with the 18U overtime Championship Game Winner. That being Bergen Catholic's [player_tooltip player_id='432324' first='Jamel' last='Hammary']. I will not spoil where he'll place on our 18U Top 20 Skill Players list, but he will be pleased with his placement. The 6'3, 205 pound ATH served a slot and tight end role for the ASG offense, reeling in any and everything thrown his way. Seam benders, stick and option routes, an occasional curl, corners, and delays, you name it, Hammary was running those routes and serving as an open window for Pernell to test at any point during a play. Where Hammary seriously surprised me was in the red zone. He is powerful, which is obvious when seeing him in person, yet watching him not be deterred by hand fighting, watching him box out defenders, and contort his body to reel in balls near the back of the end zone surprised me more than anything. This is one hell of an athlete inside a mature physique.

I'll write up ASG Metro a bit deeper at a later date, thank you to the program for coming through!
