is that dual-threat CB and WR who is an electric football star coming into this year for University Prep. At the CB spot, Sampson’s ability to be smooth, disciplined in footwork, and aggressive in making turnovers was fantastic. Continuing his ability at being a physical CB is why he has gained so much attention. Nonetheless, at WR he is going to continue to carry over his elite speed and YAC. Working all over the field, between the slot and boundary receiver, will be key to watch. In detail, this is a weapon that is going to be used all over, especially on jet sweeps/motions.

Sampson has been a varsity performer for a couple of seasons, and while coaches may hesitate to consider an undersized prospect, his athleticism, mostly how fluid he can change direction and the twitch he shows on tape, can more than make up for measurable concerns.
Sampson has very quick feet and does a great job staying on the hip of guys in coverage. He shows really good ball skills at the CB position. Over multiple seasons of tape, you see he is one of the few high school corners who can turn and locate the ball in coverage down the field.
Sampson plays both ways, but his coverage skill set can be an asset at the next level which is why I have him listed strictly as a DB prospect.

Sampson is a really smooth, twitchy athlete and, as a cornerback, shows really solid man coverage skills. I have seen him work at some camps, and he mirrors WRs really well, although a smaller prospect has done a good job fighting through reps with bigger WR/TE prospects. Sampson has solid ball skills; he impacts the catch point well consistently when I saw him live and in his film.

Sampson returns after a strong first year on varsity. Sampson who plays corner for University Prep will be a big reason their defensive backfield returns a strong group. Sampson has solid ball skills but excels in coverage. Sampson only had 1 INT last season but his 13 PBUs were amongst the top DBs in New York.

Sampson can play both ways, but his quickness, foot speed, and the overall fluidity of his hips, transitions, and movements are why I think DB is the best spot for him at the next level. I have seen Sampson live, and he has really solid man coverage skills with the consistent ability to stick at a receiver’s hip.
