09/12: Spencerport holds off Penfield, 14–7

It's the week two games where we have Spencerport visit Penfield in their homecoming matchup. There were also thrilling matchups throughout Section V, where we saw teams put on outstanding performances. Take a look below!

It was quite a low-scoring game here at the Penfield homecoming, where Spencerport was able to hold off for the 14-7. A huge impactful player on both sides for Spencerport was [player_tooltip player_id='1345188' first='Amari' last='Marianetti-Smith']. Coupled with his ability to stop the run on defense, Marianetti-Smith was a bruising ball carrier himself, continuing to get to the second and third levels of the defense. Quarterback Cole Ciao managed the game effectively, protecting the football and leading two critical scoring drives. Spencerport did need to hold Penfield on multiple red zone stops in which their defense showed up. Key contributors such as Aiden Hackett, Ivan Gurman, and Jaedon Ford. Lastly, Ford helped end the game with a diving INT.

For Penfield, they put up a fight, but they could not punch the football in when it came to red zone opportunities. Regardless, receiver Jake Maurer was able to make impressive catches throughout from QB Dominic Giunta. Additionally, RB [player_tooltip player_id='1539041' first='Zane' last='Kropman'] had a huge game running the football, including a big-time run in the first quarter.

09/12: Fairport's impressive win over Aquinas, 28-7

For Fairport High School, they were able to put away a very talented squad in Aquinas with a demanding 28-7 win. It was a wild game as Daniel Roessel fumbled the ball into the end zone, and it had to be recovered for the score by Jonathan Roessel. The Fairport running game was firing on all cylinders with James Robert Kester and Daniel Roessel carrying the heavy load. Further, the Raiders' defense came to play, as they did cause a fumble recovery near midfield. Finally, QB Samuel Roselli did have an impressive game, as he ran for a long score as well.

It was a tough game for Aquinas. However, make no mistake, the talent Jeffrey Logan III was still carrying the rock effectively. Nevertheless, Logan III had an untouched and clean goal line score, making defenders miss. The ability to lower the shoulder and drive over LBs in the hole is still present and continues to get stronger.

09/12: Rush Henrietta shuts out McQuaid, 29-0

Rush Henrietta delivered a commanding shutout win over McQuaid Jesuit under the lights with a final score of 29-0. The game was extra meaningful for former McQuaid player [player_tooltip player_id='726203' first='Xavier' last='Cox'], who played a strong game. At the same time, RB [player_tooltip player_id='1563822' first='Imani' last='Wagstaff'] had a powerful game on the ground rushing the football. Defenders had a difficult time trying to bring Wagstaff down, as he was able to shed tackles easily. Above all, there was an electric kickoff return for a TD by [player_tooltip player_id='1144300' first='Noah' last='Collins-Howard']. The speed to take off into the open field and outrun the entire special team's unit was evident by Collins-Howard.

For McQuaid's offense, they could not get the ball moving. MLB [player_tooltip player_id='619468' first='Ronin' last='Walker'] was able to make TFLs throughout the game to clog up any running opportunities that McQuaid had. Effecting the QB and applying pressure on blitzes was an evident portion of Walker's game. Lastly, Walker ended the game with a long TD where he stiff-armed a defender to sprint into the end zone.
