was the easy choice here, as I feel he is one of the best coverage CBs in Section V. His versatility in both man and zone concepts gives him the ability to play in any defensive scheme. Consistently firing at the football, turning his head to display his ball skills, and being a great tackler in space makes him a complete package at CB. Cox also has very fluid hips and natural quickness that allows him to recover on breaking points of routes. With continued development of his traits, Cox has the ability to become one of the best cornerbacks in the area.

. From his junior season, Cox allowed only 1 TD, had 2 INT, had 6 TDs, and 1 KOR. When operating at the WR spot, Cox showed off his extreme hand eye coordination. The ability to snatch the ball out of the air and make one handed grabs flashed. This is a player that can high point the football and was able to adjust within his routes when the ball was thrown in his direction. Additionally, Cox was able to make multiple toe-tapping grabs near the sideline for huge first downs. Cox is a specialty player that the McQuaid’s offense could line up in the slot, and also in the backfield as a RB because of the quickness that he displays in the open field. When it came to Cox’s ability at the CB position, he was able to produce even more in my opinion. The ability to stay relaxed, confident, and bait the QB was second to none on tape. Cox will come up and make tackles on ball carriers by securing low at the ankles or the mid-thigh region. Between having success since being on varsity his freshman year, being a two-time Section V Champion, and being a Class AA All-Star selection this past year,

Cox is another smaller CB prospect, but he shows really quality coverage skills on tape. He has some really good burst-to-closing speed, being able to impact the catch point and also limit YAC with quick tackles after the catch. Cox plays with a good motor and is always getting involved making tackles on tape. This season, Cox returns as one of the top coverage DBs, but, with improved Ball Skills, could start to create more turnovers from the position.

Such a young and physical player that was a ton of fun to watch when McQuaid Jesuit went on their Section V title run this past season. Cox plays at the WR and the CB positions for McQuaid and will be entering into his junior season when 2024 kicks off. At the CB position, the pure aggression that Cox displays on the WRs when they come out of their breaks was impressive to see. Cox does have to be careful at the timing of when he grabs at WRs down the field because of PI calls, but the work off the line was great to see. You can tell that this young man wants to make every play when he is diving to swap passes down and break up passes in the end zone. Xavier does a good job at staying balanced at the point of attack with his hips and being able to turn with speed in the breaking point of receiver’s routes in coverage. One action for certain is Cox is not afraid to tackle whatsoever and came up many times to deliver big hits on RBs. This is a huge time playmaker for McQuaid’s secondary that should have a huge season.
