CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Thursday night here at Kingston Stadium, Cedar Rapids Washington played host to North Scott in Class 4A action. The visitors left town with a 38-16 victory. Wash hung tough with a traditionally strong Lancer program and should be encouraged by a 1-1 start with a lot of football to be played.

McGuire is committed to Sioux Falls as a safety. He brings the toughness and athleticism needed in the secondary to the quarterback position for the Warriors. They shined through during his performance against North Scott in Week 2 of the 2025 season. McGuire clearly was one of the better players on the field. His desire to compete and will to win can make him successful on the next level no matter which position he ultimately plays. McGuire has the skills to line up behind center in college, for what it's worth. His arm strength and accuracy on deep passes are traits on which to build. McGuire is an effective runner with a burst, speed in the open field and keen vision. It's a starter kit for success as a modern day, dual-threat signal caller. But, again, I see the path on defense, too.

One of the better uncommitted 2026s left in Iowa, Montgomery impressed me with his broad skill set during an in-person scout early in the 2025 season. His athleticism and physicality stood out during a matchup with North Scott. Montgomery looked slick carrying the ball and catching it on offense. Defensively, he's an aggressive linebacker that gets downhill in a hurry but also moves well sideline to sideline. While a future as a every-down running back might be the vision for some schools on the next level, delivering as a playmaking linebacker seems a more likely path for success.

Iranzi is not a guy I'd heard much about before scouting Washington's game against North Scott in Week 2 of the 2025 campaign. I certainly left the stadium impressed with his broad set of skills and potential for developing them into a productive player on the next level. He hauled in three passes for 50 yards and gained nine more on his lone carry. On defense, his six tackles represented the second most among the Warriors in this contest. Iranzi also returned a punt for five yards. Playing fast with physicality, colleges likely see him as a contributor on defense and special teams. Other schools might view him as a well-rounded playmaker on offense, though.

I remember being impressed with Barton's sophomore film when reviewing it this past offseason. I left an in-person scout in Week 2 of the 2025 season with an even greater appreciation of his current ability and potential for more. Barton showed plenty of leg booting a 35-yard field goal against North Scott. He came up just short on 45-ish-yard attempt at the end of the first half on a play that didn't see him hit the ball as squarely as he would have liked. Again, with further development, the consistency will come. Barton also looked like a punting prospect, especially at school that would like to have a guy with the versatility to cover multiple special team's assignments.

Robertson stuck out to me pretty early on during an in-person scout in Week 2 of the 2025 season. Part of it was the frame as a prep sophomore. It also had to do with his performance against North Scott, too. Robertson registered 4.5 tackles (.5 TFL). The statistics only tell part of the story, however. The 10th-grader was eating up double-teams, keeping linebackers and safeties clean to make plays. Robertson showed a mature game, operating with the framework of the defense. He held up well against North Scott's challenging RPO game. Robertson has plenty of room to grow in terms of strength and sharpening his skills, which is exciting for the future and gives him a sizable ceiling.

I noticed Fletcher pretty early on during an in-person scout of Cedar Rapids Washington, when it faced North Scott in Week 2 of the 2025 season. Facing a program which annually fields tough matchups for opposing offensive linemen, Fletcher played beyond his years in this one. Lining up at left tackle, he displayed fluid actions in getting set up in pass protection. Fletcher placed his hands well and kept them active. His agility in pass-pro also showed up in the running game, where he proved effective in blocking in space and reaching blocks on the second level. With almost three years of high school remaining for development, Fletcher is, for sure, one to watch moving forward.
