The Jersey Shore AYF Conference held its 12U Conference All-Star tryouts last Saturday with over 100 athletes trying out to make the team. The three-time defending National Champions on the 12u level held three different tryout sessions: OL/DL, RB/LB, QB/WR/DB. Some athletes attended more than one session in the hopes of being picked. Below are the standouts from the second session.

As the first session of the 12U Jersey Shore Conference All-Stars tryout wound down, I saw Paluski on the sideline getting loose and his size immediately jumped out at me. Certainly in the neighborhood of 6-foot, he had adequate weight on his frame as well. His build and overall athleticism lends itself to playing nearly any skill position on the field. I'm not sure where exactly he ends up -- possibly as a Tight End/Edge/Linebacker type -- but there is a considerable upside here.

In my eyes, Bell was the top Running Back at the second session of the 12U Jersey Shore Conference All-Stars tryout. Everything he did on the field looked natural. Did a good job of driving his knees and picking up his feet through agility drills. Ran with good enough speed and also had some dog in him, as he wasn't afraid to dip a shoulder and run through Linebackers during bag drills. Bell also stood out with his ability to accelerate quickly and get to top speed quickly, after coming out of unsettled situations. There wasn't ample opportunity to check out his vision as a runner during the tryout, but some early film from this season shows that he has it.

Out of the nearly 40 organizations in the Jersey Shore AYF conference, by my count Toms River was the most well-represented at the tryout with 10 kids. [player_tooltip player_id='1892002' first='Colton' last='Davis'] is a prospect that I originally made a note of during the first session, because he was at that one too; However, he separated himself from his peers as a Linebacker during the second session. He played with good technique during 1-on-1 drills and made a couple nice hits that caught my attention.

Staying with the Toms River prospects, the fastest prospect I saw all day was unquestionably [player_tooltip player_id='1891897' first='Jiarra' last='Hollingshead']. Battling through some tightness throughout the tryout, he gutted through whatever pain he was feeling and played ball. Hollingshead is on the smaller/thinner side which isn't ideal, but his speed made up for it. I didn't get times from the forty testing, but my eyes tell me he was the fastest. I expect Hollingshead to be selected for the team and he could be a fun chess piece for the offense to use. Whether he lines up as a Wide Receiver or plays the role of a scat back, he'll be a weapon in space with his quickness.

I last saw [player_tooltip player_id='1636619' first='Mason' last='Viglone'] at our Prep Redzone Next Middle School Combine last spring, where he was just a pup as a sixth-grade Edge player walking into an event filled with countless dogs who have verbal scholarship offers just weeks into their freshman season(s). However, at the tryout against kids his own age, Viglone was literally the first prospect I took note of. Played fast and aggressively throughout the multiple sessions he was at. He has the ball skills to make an impact on the offensive side, but he looks like a future Linebacker to me. Viglone has the versatility to play inside or outside at this point depending on scheme. Also, finally, if you guessed he was from Toms River...you'd be correct.

During the second tryout, without a doubt the most physically impressive prospect in terms of a muscular build was [player_tooltip player_id='1891977' first='Nas' last='Adeoye']. The Hamilton Rogue One prospect wasn't on the initial tryout roster, but after I saw him move around during warmups, I made a beeline for him. With his power and clear advantage in strength, Adeoye should be a slam dunk for this team, in my opinion. He, like several others in this tryout, offers versatility. I think he'd be used best as an Edge rusher and/or as Middle Linebacker in short yardage situations. Offensively, I could see him playing the role of an H-Back and or even Fullback in short yardage.

He reminded me a significant amount of 2030 prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1476876' first='Malachi' last='Bredy'], who played a huge in role in helping last year's 12U Jersey Shore Conference All-Stars win it all.

Another prospect that wasn't on the initial tryout roster, yet quickly garnered attention from myself and other coaches was [player_tooltip player_id='1891925' first='Nico' last='Pizzola']. Pizzola had a strong lower half and generated a lot of power from his hips. He ran better than the majority of prospects but really stood out to me during the agility station. He looked the part of a Middle Linebacker who could shuffle his feet and get through the muck, before arriving with a big stick. Pizzola had a nice showing overall.

Rounding out the standouts from the second session of the 12U Jersey Shore Conference All-Stars tryout, [player_tooltip player_id='1891881' first='Zakhi' last='Armour'] did some nice things. A few coaches told me to keep an eye on him before the session got started and it turned out to be the right move. I'm not sure what position he'll ultimately end up playing if selected for the team, but he was a plus in terms of speed and agility. While he appeared to be a step or two slower than his regular season teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1891897' first='Jiarra' last='Hollingshead'] (listed above) the pair have a similar skill set. Both TR Warriors are speedy kids with slender builds, who can be dangerous if they get the ball in space.
