The Adam Gaylor era at Jenks officially began last week as the Trojans rolled to a 51-7 victory over Edmond Santa Fe. The Trojans were led by a dominant defense and a rushing attack that could not be slowed down. The only thing that held Jenks back early on in the game was penalties. As the Trojans clean that up, specifically on the offensive line, they are going to be in a good position moving forward. They now shift their focus to a week one showdown against Owasso.

Jenks is heading up to Owasso to face a Ram squad that is looking to bounce back in a major way this week, following a week zero setback to Bixby. Despite that 49-21 loss to Bixby, Owasso provides a serious threat to that Trojan defense. Jenks looked really good on that side of the ball but now they're facing an Owasso offense that has a really strong group of skill players. Combine that with the fact that Owasso beat Jenks twice last season, including in triple overtime in the 6A-1 semifinals and you have one of the top games to watch in week one. Below, we take a look at five players to watch and more storylines to follow this week and beyond.

JENKS PLAYERS TO WATCH

[player_tooltip player_id='1829699' first='Kade' last='Klein'] - Sophomore Linebacker

The Jenks defense and specifically the front seven was outstanding on Friday night. They played with relentless energy and were constantly rotating players in and out. The depth for a unit that is somewhat unexperienced was really impressive to watch. Sophomore linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='1829699' first='Kade' last='Klein'] was without a doubt one of the top defensive players that we watched in week zero. Going into this season, we knew Klein was a guy the Jenks coaches were excited about but he was still unproven on the varsity level. That's not the case anymore. Klein lined up primarily at outside linebacker in the first half (when we saw him) and was wrecking shop in the Edmond Santa Fe backfield. He had a pair of sacks and looks like a player that's going to fit the mold of that Jenks linebacker that has a nose for the football and plays like the energizer bunny with a no signs of slowing down throughout the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1030447' first='Kailib' last='Dillard'] - Junior Wide Receiver/Defensive Back

After talking with Jenks coaches this offseason, it was clear that we were going to see junior standout [player_tooltip player_id='1030447' first='Kailib' last='Dillard'] quite a bit this season on the offensive side of the ball. Prior to this season, Dillard was known more for being a standout safety, who's already firmly on the radar of P4 college coaches. But Dillard has the potential to also be Jenks' top wide receiver this season and he wasted no time showing why. On the first drive, he was targeted multiple times and made plays, including catching the first touchdown of the season. Dillard also made multiple plays in run support from his safety position. Another unique part of his game is he's the Jenks punter so opponents are going to have to be careful about the Trojans having an athlete back there at punter. We were very impressed with his first big outing on the offensive side of the ball on a Friday night.

[player_tooltip player_id='402378' first='KD' last='Jones'] - Senior Running Back

Senior running back and Oklahoma State commit [player_tooltip player_id='402378' first='KD' last='Jones'] is always going to be a player to watch when you're talking about Jenks. The future Cowboy running back got his senior season off to a great start. He totaled over 200 yards of total offense and five touchdowns in the season-opening win. What's scary is he could have racked up even more yards and found the end zone more times as he had two touchdowns wiped off by penalty. We've said this countless times but the most underrated part of his game is his pass-catching ability out of the backfield. There's no doubt that he's the best running back in the state but if he was strictly a wide receiver, he would be considered one of the best there as well. No matter if it's at running back or wide receiver, Jones is a player to watch and now he shifts his focus to torching an Owasso defense that struggled in week zero.

[player_tooltip player_id='1206910' first='Landon' last='Kizzar'] - Junior Quarterback

Jenks had a three-way battle going for the starting quarterback position heading into this season. Junior signal caller [player_tooltip player_id='1206910' first='Landon' last='Kizzar'] would end up winning the job and started for the Trojans in week zero. Kizzar impressed in his first start as the Trojan QB1. Kizzar threw for nearly 300 yards in his first start in the win over Santa Fe. Now, no matter who won the QB1 job, they were going to be in an advantageous position with one of the better offensive lines in the state and several skill players that are among the best in Oklahoma. But Kizzar thrived on Friday night and for a player that was making his first start, he definitely didn't look like it. Now, the junior is going to be really tested in the next three games. They travel to Owasso this week, host Union next week and face Bixby in week four. All three teams have multiple D1 commits or offered players in their secondaries.

[player_tooltip player_id='467408' first='Ryley' last='Kester'] - Senior Offensive Lineman

Jenks could very well have the best offensive line in the state. They have '26, '27 and '29 prospects that are starting that have D1 offers and it wouldn't be surprising if by the end of the season, four of the five starters have D1 offers. Leading the way is senior [player_tooltip player_id='467408' first='Ryley' last='Kester'] and he's started at basically every position on the offensive line at this point. He's a four-year starter and without a doubt one of the best guys at his position in the state. Kester, a Tulsa commit has the reputation of being a ruthless opponent to defensive linemen. After watching him and the rest of the Jenks offensive line, it looks like Kester's overall mentality has rubbed off on some of the rest of the line. Kester and this group play with a mean streak and they look to punish their opponent on every snap. They pave the way for this very talented skill position group to make plays and light up the scoreboard.
