One of the biggest upsets of the week across high school football in Iowa, Lawton-Bronson was coming off a hot 2-1 start following a winless 2024 campaign, but they had quite a tough opponent for homecoming as they took on the undefeated Rams. The Rams led 17-13 heading into the 4th quarter, seeming poised to spoil the big night. However, the Eagles clicked in the 4th quarter, thanks in part to several miscues from MVAOCOU and fortunate plays on offense, the Eagles were able to claim a 3 point lead late, and the Rams final drive was shut down quickly, giving the Eagles a statement win, showing that the Eagles are on pace for a historic single-season turnaround in 2025.

Despite being heavy favorites at home, Pocahontas Area was able to keep up for the most part with the E-Hawks in terms of offensive production. Pocahontas Area finished the night with more yards than Emmetsburg (325-322) as they showed more balance with the pass and run. However, the Indians had no answer for the E-Hawks run-attack, which accumulated 293 yards, combined with 2 critical interceptions, the E-Hawks were able to hold off one last drive where the Indians crossed into their territory to solidify a close win over a weaker opponent.

Coming off a brutal loss last week to Cherokee Washington, the Raptors seemed to be on pace for another rough showing taking on the Blackhawks at Hinton, who looked to avenge their loss to the Raptors last season. The first 3 quarters proved to be a defensive affair, with the game tied 7-7 heading into the 4th. The Raptors suddenly exploded in the final 12 minutes, thanks in part to several huge offensive plays, the Blackhawks were not able to keep up, and Ridge View emerged victorious for the second straight year over the Blackhawks as they get themselves back to .500 heading into the second half of the season.

Another surprising upset on Friday night, Interstate 35 was looking to build off a dominant victory in week 3 over Clarke Community, but they had a difficult matchup against Pleasantville's potent offense. However, the Roadrunners were able to fluster the Trojans' offense, which sorely missed top QB [player_tooltip player_id='1197483' first='Braylon' last='Bingham']. The Trojans were unable to score until the 4th quarter while committing 5 turnovers. Meanwhile, the Roadrunners were able to control the run, finishing with 283 total rushing yards as they were able to chip away the clock en route to a strong win, earning their 3rd straight win over Pleasantville while also handing the 3-0 Trojans their first loss of the season.
