PRZVA Team Previews: King's Fork Bulldogs

<p>The King's Fork Bulldogs are loaded up for another state title run. This year's team is fast and physical, but also has dynamic talent at skilled positions to vary the offense. Talented linemen and veteran defensive backs are notable groups for the Bulldogs. The team also has standouts with multiple P4 offers to include Josh Pittman and [player_tooltip player_id='1311469' first='Anthony' last='Henderson Jr.'] This should be an exciting season for the Bulldogs who hope to take the Class 5 state championship. </p>    <p>Pittman has been a 4 year starter for the Bulldogs. He has shown a great combination of discipline and aggression at the Edge position. He is long, shows good play strength, and gets separation. He is violent when tackling and runs his feet on contact. He usually beats offensive tackles with a bull rush or a rip move. He has enough range and closing speed to move back to the 2nd level at VT. I could see him as a versatile Will backer for the Hokies, who has blitz packages and moves down to the LOS in situations. He has the frame to add 20-30 more lbs. If he shows he can cover, he has the tools be a multi-year starter for the Hokies. Great release, great start/stop as a route runner, very sudden, hard to cover. He has elite ball skills, good hands, and body control. Very smooth and textbook in everything he does. He doesn't have elite length or size, but still think this is a mid to high level P4 kid because of his suddenness and overall AA. He reminds me of [player_tooltip player_id='1373018' first='Jhamari' last='Cain'] of Hugenot. Not a huge kid but can beat you multiple different ways. His AA, skills, and versatility allow him to play bigger than his listed size and win matchups. He can stretch the field and run the whole route tree. Can also be used on end arounds and jet sweeps. Draws a lot of attention form defensive coordinators because of versatility and speed. By the end of this season will be considered one of the best players in VA regardless of class. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Kevin Knight is a long, rangy DB, who is violent and shows aggression. Knight is a kid who may be recruited at multiple different positions. As a corner he shows very fluid hips and elite ball skills. As a safety and OLB, he can blitz and disrupt passing lanes with great wingspan and straight line speed. This is the second time I have written him up and he has yet to take a high school snap. Knight already has offers from multiple FBS schools. He is built like a senior DE, but has the AA and range to play in space. His father was a starting CB for UNC in the early 2000s, so the bloodlines are there. Kevin can be one of the top recruits in the country by the time he is a junior, as he has already gained national exposure. I like him at corner or rover, but he is truly an ATH. Just needs a uniform and he can find his way as an FBS starter. I like him at guard at the next level, but could potentially see him at NT as well. As an Olineman, Tyler does a nice job of getting his butt to the hole and shows good hand placement. He doesn't show tremendous aggression, but a big body whose under control and finesses players. A young player, his aggression and motor will improve with repetitions and confidence. Has enough AA and speed to pull. Coaching at both HS and college level will develop his potential and improve technique. As a NT, he does a great job clogging gaps and taking on double teams. Shows ability to shed blocks and make tackles. Will need to improve twitch, aggression, and closing speed to be FBS DT, but has tools that translate. A rising sophomore, has 3 more years to develop, so a definite FBS prospect on both sides of the ball. Has a long, wide body, with exceptional wingspan. Has frame to add 30 more LBs. Has exceptional hands, he often puts edge rusher in the dirt, even if beat off the snap. His feet need to catch up with his hands, as his kickstep is slow and methodical. He is patient in pass pro and lets rush develop. He shows great bend on film, especially in back and upper body. Also shows enough speed/AA to pull and block in space, and win matchups. Needs to get pad level lower and sink hips especially in run blocking. Right now he is a technician who tends to use hands more than whole body. Can generate more power and explosion if technique improves. Overall like his AA and how he processes situations. The game moves slow for him and he doesn't over commit and is never out of control. If he gets stronger, improves technique, and learns to trust football instincts, he can be a P4 starter. Good two way player who plays many positions well. Love his back pedal and how smooth he is. Believe he is a corner next level, as I don't see him being physical enough for FS. Has hip fluidity and transitions well. Type of cover corner who runs all day and shuts down deep routes. Will have to get stronger for press coverage, also to shed blocks and come up in run support. Will need to improve tackling as he doesn't wrap up, run hips consistently. Shows good balls skills, recovers well, breaks on the ball well. All told, long/fluid athlete who plays multiple positions well. Patient player, athleticism allows him to take time and diagnose. North Carolina Central Commit. Projects well as a D1 slot corner. Looks good in press coverage and comes up in run support. Has better length and strength than 5'10 165 lb frame. Shows good ball skills, play strength, and competitiveness. Transitions well and has hip fluidity. Competes for football against larger WRs, has good wingspan, is not overly aggressive. Shows speed and instincts covering go routes. Footwork, timing, and recovery would make him formidable on 3rd down on underneath routes. Length is concern, but shows elite AA, body control, and ball skills. </p>     <p class="text-gray-700">Will is an offensive guard for the Bulldogs. He has good length and mass for a kid his age. He has great feet for zone blocking. His feet are always underneath him and takes 6 inch steps, never lunging. He shows speed and burst when pulling. He shows good contact power at the point of attack and flashes aggression. He just needs to be more consistent with his effort and motor, and always play to the whistle blows. That being said he has the length and body type to be a division 1 guard. If he grows and continues to get stronger, he will start get more recruiting attention. Effort and motor are definitely areas for improvement, but a young player with upside.</p>
