PRZVA Team Previews: Churchland Truckers

The Truckers look to improve on their 6-6 record last year by bouncing back in 2025. Churchland is always talented and went 8-4 the two seasons before. This season they are returning 5 starters on offense and 3 on defense. Sophomore QB Logan Wynne is back as a 2nd year starter and has a slew of weapons who impressed in team camp and 7v7. He also has a large offensive line who are physical and get a push at the LOS. Here is a list of several long, athletic playmakers who can stretch the field and pickup YAC yards for the Sophomore QB.    Logan returns for his sophomore campaign and has a lot of weapons around him. Most impressive is his pocket presence and downfield accuracy. He makes a lot of different throws and is patient from the pocket. He is more mobile than he gets credit for and can step up and manipulate the pocket and still continue to go through his progressions. If he is forced to reset, he is still looking to throw the ball, which is impressive for a 15 year old. If he plays within himself and facilitates the offense, he can be an All Tidewater QB this year. Just like how he doesn't panic and allows routes to develop and WRs to get open. Great timing and if decision making continues to improve, he can have a breakout statistical year throwing for 2,500 yards and 20 TDs/5 ints. He has a large offensive line and if they give him time, he can throw all day. His accuracy and chemistry with WRs can be a dangerous mix for the Truckers. Length, arm strength, and mobility can be factors in his recruitment. However, he has the ability to master his craft at the HS level. His timing is impeccable and Churchland can be one of the most potent offenses in 757.     Natural tools at WR. Goes up and attacks the football, strong hands. Has the power forward quality, effective in red zone. Physical and fearless, has no problem catching in traffic. North/South once he has the ball in his hands but shows elusiveness as well. Has a backyard quality, but in a good way, looking to stretch the field and make plays. His route running needs to be cleaned up, but has tools to be crisp route runner. Wants to go out and dominate, could easily put up 150 yards in a game. Great physical presence and gets vertical to win 1 on 1 matchup vs corner. Disregards cornerback. Love his aggression and confidence on the field. Not a huge kid but plays bigger than size and has good play strength. Look forward to tracking his junior season. Has interest interest from ODU and CNU.     Great film, one of the more underrated players in VA. Looks more natural at safety than corner, as he likes to diagnose and come downhill and hit. Good contact power, but consistently doesn't wrap up when tackling. Player is a strong 165 with nice frame/thick. Also nice wingspan for 5'10. Very smooth and natural, has good footwork and runs well. Plays in space well and shows good trigger. At the HS level, he's an ATH, but will be recruited at DB. Best guess is he will be a CB due to 5'10. He will be a big help to the Truckers this year at WR too. He shows capable hands, ball skills, footwork, and release. Again, long 5'10 who has multiple skills, smooth runner, on the balls of his feet, instinctive player. Oscar Smith transfer. NCCU commit, also has UNH. Worth tracking senior year. If weight and length were prototypical, would be higher level kid.     Great two way player. As a TE shows good route running ability and football speed. Gets north/south fast and looking to score. Shows good hands on film. Long/wiry build not massive, but has frame to add 20-30 more lbs. This is a kid who can split out and play in space. Has a George Kittle skillset, he's good after catch and looks to deliver punishment. This is an FBS offer talent, and this year will be telling for him. He can be QB's best friend as you can dump it off to him, and can rip off long gains. He is a hybrid ATH, not a traditional TE, but explosive and runs well. On Defense, he plays edge, and shows great closing speed and pursuit. Great aggression and the discipline can be taught. He is violent and shows great contact power, actively hunting, wants to hurt kids. His fundamentals are not evident on film, would question ability to shed blocks and get separation against a good tackle. He's really a hybrid kid on both sides of ball. Flaws are that he's stiff and question whether he's big enough to block or shed blocks at next level. Could see him recruited to play either side. Rover/Edge on defense, or hybrid TE/WR on offense. Needless to say FBS prospect on both sides IMO. Not prototypical, but a playmaker who has elite tools and can play in space. Has the football attributes you can't teach (length, speed, aggression, motor, violence). Worth betting on.     Keith plays both RB and CB for the Truckers. As a RB, he is very sudden, runs downhill between the tackles, and follows his blocks. He is slight of frame but still a guy who can get tough yards. He has a good Oline, but presses holes, shows good vision, and can cut. Nice lean, always going forward, north/south. Don't think he has the size to play RB at next level, future is at CB IMO. As a CB, good back petal, good COD, runs and moves well. Will come up in run support, tackles low, shows twitch, and AA. Can shut down WR on deep routes, can run all day. Needs to add mass to shed blocks and be more physical in run support. Want to see more film of this. Athletic tools are there, just question size/strength. Worth tracking senior season.     Smart, intuitive player, good decision maker, not vulnerable in conflict. One of the best pound for pound players in Hampton Roads. Either a CB or slot receiver next level. Could play in the slot, field, or boundary next level depending on situation or team needs. As a CB, does a good job in both man and zone. In zone, shows great discipline, makes good decisions about when to come up in run support. Shows great footwork, back pedaling, COD, and hip flexibility. Never takes a play off. Like his ability to guard slot receivers because of COD. Not a huge kid, but scrappy, competes, sheds blocks, and takes on RB. Has strong hands and good wingspan. Shows trigger, breaks on the ball well, very good situational awareness. Questions of size and strength. A long, blocking WR could have his way with him. Can overachieve, just a question of what level he fits in at, projected D3/D2 starter, all conference upside. Always does his job, never out of position. Coachable, student-athlete. Has HSC, CNU offers, South Carolina State interest.
