PRZMD Team Previews: Franklin

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After making it all the way to Regional Finals last fall, Franklin HS looks to make a strong push for States this year. Coach Burgos may have stepped down but new HC Coach Johnson has this team primed to not have any drop off. An athletic QB who has a verified 9'7" SBJ and 4.7 40 from the National Preps Spring Showcase. Zander has excellent pocket awareness and mobility. He steps up in the pocket to shoot the ball down field, and is great passer on the run. He is able to scramble for yards or extend the play while keeping his eyes downfield to find the open receiver. Zander has a smooth throwing motion and the ball comes out clean &amp; tight with nice spin. It's makes a very easy to catch ball for his playmakers as Zander his them in stride. He also throws a nice deep ball, getting it up and down to drop in a bucket or lace it up the seam. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Currently Zander holds two offers from newly promoted D2 Lackawanna College and Univ. of New England. A high academic prospect as well, with a 3.9 GPA and 1230 SAT he should be getting plenty more interest from high academic and scholarship D2 programs his senior year. Saw a lot of him last season and expect him to continue his trajectory and really show out this fall. He had just shy of 800 rushing yds and 8 TDs while missing some time. I can see Dylan having a big work load this year and getting over the 1,000 yd rushing mark. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A good mix of size speed and power, Dylan runs downhill behind his pads and gets to the end zone. He runs with good balance and runs through arm tackles. Dylan possess some good wiggle and burst as well. Able to make sharp cuts and dodge tacklers before getting back getting up field. Effective as a receiver out the backfield as well and in the screen game add another level of his ability to hurt defenses. He can line up at DE in an odd or even front as well as sliding inside as a rush DT. Ryan is a physical tough player who shows nice strength. Able to shed off blockers and collapse the pocket. He gets off the ball low and wins with leverage and power. Ryan is also light on his feet and able to move nicely laterally. Shows good hips and quick burst, able to re-direct and chase down the ball. He makes impacts on the play that don't always show in the box score but he is vital do what Franklin does on D. He's got a nice first step off the snap for a player his size, is quick to pop out of his stance. Gilbert plays with great strength. Able to push the pocket back, take on double teams, and throw blockers off of him. Plays with some nice short area burst as well. Able to get off blocks and quickly get into the backfield to disrupt the play. Gilbert is an impact DT for Franklin in both run support and pass rush. I was able to see him live in game a few times last fall, and he immediately stood out to me with his level of play. A strong sophomore season with 79 tackles, 9 TFLs and responsible for multiple forced turnovers. Don't be surprised at all if Nate passes the 100 total tackles this year. A physical downhill MLB with a high motor. Nate can lay the wood, hitting through the ball carrier. He shows fluid hips for the position, able to drop into coverage and make a play on the ball. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph {"placeholder":"Add evaluation here...","className":"text-gray-700"} --> <p class="text-gray-700">A high IQ player, Damiano is quick to identify the play. He takes smart angles and is always in the right position to make the play. A true complete ILB and a high academic prospect as well. Cruz had 3 INTs last season and multiple PBUs and proved he has the potential to be a lock down ball hawking CB. Cruz has the makings of an all around complete corner. Able to play man or zone, boundary or field CB, and think he can even be a playmaker from the slot/nickel spot. Not afraid to mix it up in the run game either, Cruz will come up and throw his body around to make the tackle. He shows the ability to bend the edg and flatten down the line. Jaidon has quick feet and good hips that allow him to beat OL and get to the ball quickly. He plays with a high motor and has a nose for the ball. A TFL and sack machine, expect Jaidon to lead the Franklin defense in those this fall. Paired with the rest of Franklin's DL they have all aspects of rush covered. Jaidon will be the speed rush threat that is a handful for OL to keep from getting to the QB.
