You gotta have some power to your game if you want to be an elite running back. Even the best "elusive" backs like Jahmyr Gibbs can lower a shoulder and break tackles. In high school football, power is one of the best traits you can have. Five of the most powerful RBs in Michigan- here we go!

I have long touted Tomarion as one of Michigan's best power RBs.

Weight room stats do play a role here. 625lb deadlift, 500lb squat, and 300lb bench press. This makes for a phenomenal ceiling in short-yardage situations. Plus a high skill ceiling in trucking, contact balance, and all-around power.

So far in Tomarion's career, he's shown excellent power, especially last season. His 2024 highlight tape is full of broken tackles against excellent defenses. Tomarion's production took a leap last season, and he'll likely be even better this season.

Any Power T running back needs to have a little power. [player_tooltip player_id='206418' first='Jayden' last='Terry'] has run with full force since his freshman season.

I've seen it firsthand. Terry takes a carry up the middle, runs right through a couple of arm tackles, and before you know it, he's in the open field. Yes, Terry's speed is high-end and allows him to finish runs, but he would be a significantly worse player if he didn't have the balance.

Shabazz has sky-high upside in the power department. Another dude with excellent work in the weight room. Over a year ago, I watched Jordan put up 225 on the bench for an insane number of reps. In addition, his lower body has gotten stronger, and he's gotten faster.

In-season, Shabazz has shown flashes. Currently, they're just flashes. Every once in a while, Jordan will run through a good tackle attempt and earn those extra yards. Based on what I know about his proficiency in the weight room, Jordan is one of the strongest RBs in Michigan and has the upside to be a top 3 power RB in the state.

I've long complimented how many things Cameron does right. He's a threat in the passing game, can run between the tackles, outside the tackles, goalline, you name it.

In order to be so well-rounded, you've gotta have good power. Payne has proven his contact balance against high-end defenses like St. Mary's and Mona Shores. You have to gang tackle [player_tooltip player_id='1573500' first='Cameron' last='Payne'] in order to get him to the ground. Excellent running back! Don't count Byron Center out this season!

Most of Mayes' highlights showcase at least one broken tackle. He's a big-bodied running back who sports above-average vision and, of course, high-end power. I am consistently impressed by this dudes ability to run through contact. Even when multiple of defenders are wrapped up, he's still able to fight for a couple more yards. In short-yardage situations, including the goalline, Mayes is an excellent option.

I also know he's been working on being a more well-rounded RB. I was pleasantly surprised by his route running and hands this offseason. I do think he needs an extra gear of speed to be a home-run hitter, though.
