Game Recap: Walsh versus Springfield

It was a beautiful night for football at Springfield high school. Both Springfield and Walsh have a number of very talented players on their teams. From a game play standpoint Walsh really controlled the game from start to finish. Walsh was just the more experienced and stronger team.    Loved what I saw from Jeras. He was a disruptive force for the Walsh defensive line all night long. He has a strong bull rush. He also has violent hands and good bend. He was living in the Springfield backfield all night long. I really like him as a strong side defensive end at the college level. He's going to be a guy who can set the edge in the run game but will also be effective as a pass rusher. Colton has been talking with Ball State and Kent State.     The Warriors had over 200 yards rushing on the evening. Pelkowski was a big part of that. He has great length and frame. He was strong in the run game whether it was executing down blocks or getting to the second level to pick up linebackers, Owen showed good feet, the ability to play in space and anchor versus the pass rush.     Dachille was as fun watch. He plays with great pad level. When you talk about playing fast and violent Alex embodies that. Whether it was pursuit on the ball in the run game, blitzing from his linebacker position, he was making plays. Dachille led the Warriors with 8 tackles, 6 solo, and 2.5 tackles for loss.     To say Parris passes the look test would be a gross understatement. The Iowa State commit looks every bit his listed 6'5 210 pounds. He will arrive in Ames Iowa with a college ready body for the Cyclone coaches to work with. For as big as he is he's really twitchy and explosive. He's simply a mismatch for nearly any high school defender. He had a beautiful high point catch on a 50-50 ball that went for 41 yards. He was also a force as a blocker on the outside as well.     Carter is physical specimen. The compact linebacker plays like a truck on a hill left in neutral. He plays through the wash well. He didn't rack up a lot of tackles because Springfield did most of their running on the perimeter, but he did have the only sack on the evening for Walsh. Caden is committed to Bowling Green State University.     Crosley was another force on the Warriors offensive line. I love offensive linemen who play with a little nasty and he definitely does that. He's strong at the point of attack and has a great punch that can knock defenders off their spot. Crosley lined up at left tackle, but he'll move inside at the college level. Colton is committed to Ohio University.     Brew has a long and lanky build. He has room to add good weight on. As a defender he has fluid hips that he's able to flip his hips and run. He's a fluid athlete and shows off good ball skills. He also lines up at wide receiver for Walsh. James is committed to Ohio.     Blascak was all over the field all night long. You never saw him take a play off. When he got to the play, he was ready to lay the lumber to the ball carrier. He profiles perfectly to the hybrid linebacker position at the college level. At 6'3 210 he should easily be able to add 15 pounds and not lose his explosiveness. He'll be a force in the run and in coverage.     Tobin was the engine that made the Warriors offense go on the night. He had 135 yards on 15 carries with 2 touchdowns for the game. Tobin is an explosive runner who runs with good tempo and vision. He has excellent contact balance and great leg drive making it hard for defenders to get him to the ground.     The West Virginia commit led the Springfield defense with 8 tackles .5 TFL's and added a pass defensed. Powell moves well and is very active in both the run and pass games. He has a great feel for playing in space and breaking on the ball in the pass game. In the run game he plays a physical style when he attacks blockers and the ball.     Daniels is your typical mike linebacker. He's good in his read and react and he gets downhill in a hurry. He plays with good pad level and is a good form tackler who is able to stand up strong ball carriers. Daniels has P4 offers from Louisville and Arizona State and sever G5 offers. I expect Daniels to put out some strong junior film and to continue to compile P4 offers.     The young and talented receiver had the lone touchdown on the evening for the Wildcats. The touchdown came on a 4th and goal from the 26-yard line where Thompson went up and hauled in a 50-50 ball in the corner of the endzone. Thompson is very athletic and fluid in his route running creating separation against older more experienced players.
