The season is here! The long wait is over. Week 1 is on our doorstep and as we continue to preview the season I want to turn our attention to the numbers. More importantly, the athletes who we think will produce some of the biggest numbers. I will be writing an article for offense and defense this week and within each of them I will provide three predictions for who will lead the state in passing yards/TDs, rushing yards/TDs, receiving yards/TDs, tackles, sacks, and INTs. Today our focus is on the electric playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. Let's dive in and make our predictions!

This is an easy choice. Patrick is already coming off a junior season where he led the state in passing yards and passing TDs. He will have a few new targets this fall, but the usage rate on a weekly basis should remain the same. I also expect West De Pere to play deep into November, and with playoff numbers counting towards the overall number I think we could see Patrick put together a Top 5 passing season that WI HS football has ever seen.

Another big time producer as a junior was Middleton QB1 [player_tooltip player_id='1610215' first='Joey' last='Passaglia']. In just his first season as a starter Joey put up nearly 3,000 yards and 30+ TDs. He returns his top target and an RB to help keep defenses honest. With his weapons, and now his experience, we could see Joey push for that top spot in the passing categories.

This could be a perfect storm scenario if it all comes together. We have seen the Kohler offense produce elite numbers in recent history. We also just saw Carmine come off a junior season where he produced nearly 2,300 yards. I have witnessed the work that Carmine has put in this summer and offseason overall. So I won't be surprised to see a jump in his numbers, which would put him near the top in the key categories.

Matthew is back for his third season of varsity football as a member of the Badger backfield. Similar to last season I expect Matthew to be back as the QB for the Badger triple option attack. As a junior we saw Matthew produce at a high level, make a deep playoff run with his team, and showcase elite talent as a runner from vision to athleticism and power. This year the team will need him to produce at a similar level, and if they can make another deep run the door is wide open with all the top producers from 2024 graduating.

This prediction might be a bit far-fetched, but the workload could be there. If Kingston can earn even 85% of what Christian Collins carried last season then the breakout year would be upon us. Kingston has the physical tools to turn 275-300 touches into one of the best statistical seasons that we have ever seen in WI, and that would be saying a lot. Allen has speed, contact balance, and that innate playmaking ability. Give him 20+ touches a game and we could be looking at the 2025 rushing yards and TDs leader. I can't wait to see what he does.

Another QB that could produce elite numbers on the ground is Iowa commit [player_tooltip player_id='700025' first='Brody' last='Schaffer']. You won't find athletes more athletically gifted than Brody this fall. He has short area burst, vision, and instincts to thrive between the tackles and speed to get the edge and beat angles down the sideline. The elite athlete also is a smart decision maker who only keeps it when the play is there to be made, so the numbers could pile up quickly. The potential for a deep playoff run is also there with Winneconne. So get ready for big numbers from the future Hawkeye.

We talked about it in the passing category and we will emphasize it again here. West De Pere looks like it will be in position to have the best passing attack in WI. If that is the case the the receiving numbers should be elite as well. The easy choice to lead the way there is [player_tooltip player_id='1220669' first='Judeah' last='Kniskern']. The Sioux Falls commit had a great junior year while not being the #1 option. This year he will be and he has the gifts to produce even if the defense tries to put two guys on him in coverage. I'm pumped to watch Judeah produce this fall.

Bryce is one of the best athletes in Wisconsin overall. He has already been a high level producer as an underclassman. Now as a junior we could see him take that next level and really prove to college recruiters and coaches that he has the talent to play at the highest levels. The high-powered offense is there, his QB1 is back, and Bryce should only be better at his craft. Could be the perfect storm for big time numbers.

This is an interesting choice. Looking at the big picture, Shaundel was one of the best producers in 2024. However, the impressive WR will be at a new school. Oak Creek will have better QB play, but they will also have a talented run game keeping things more balanced. However, I am going to put my trust into Shaundel's talents. He knows how to create space, attack the ball in the air, and score when he gets the ball. He is a natural playmaker that should have plenty of targets, so he is a must-include when making these predictions.
